I love this series, my Dad spent time in Malaysia in 1959 as a young kiwi soldier based in Malacca. I was lucky enough as a family to be stationed in Singapore for 2 years in the late 1970's. I have been back to Singapore and Malaysia many many times. My Dad nearly 84 yo has cancer and I would of loved one more trip back to Malaysia with My Dad. Stace you are so lucky to have this special time with your Dad. I love your channel but I LOVE this series, Oh gotta say "not enough eating makan" on today's episode LOL, Terima Kasih

Stationed in Malacca? Then I think it's Terendak Camp. There is still a small graveyard for the deceased Commonwealth soldiers inside the army camp. If your Dad is able to make a trip to Malaysia, try to contact the Ministry of Defence to grant a permission for your Dad to visit the camp, because nearly a year ago two British veterans came back to Malaysia after all those years to take a nostalgic trip. They were initially denied access but were later on granted special permission by the Minister after their news was out. Hope your Dad and you are able to make that trip to Malaysia.

@@lkh-xj1ck yes thats right Terandak, I spent school camp at Terandak. My parents went back in 1989 as the closed Dieppe Barracks. My parents attended a soecial church service for NZ soldiers and families that rest in Malaysia.

This was amazing, we lived in KL from 78 till 82 of Jalan Imbi in Jln Inai, our house balcony used to look up to Genting and we would drive up for a break some weekends for the cool temperatures. Sounds like around the time George was working there. KL was amazing and we have been back several times over the last few years and hardly recognise it. Heidi is a Kiwi (Cook Islander) and it was her first time experience of overseas living.

🙏 The Amber Court Hotel & Ria Apartments at Genting Highlands are reportedly haunted by guests , so if can get other optional accomodation that would be fortunate! Batu = Rock in Malaysian language & the big golden statue at the entrance of Batu Caves is 🙏 Lord Murugan , one of the Son of 🙏 Deva Shiva & Devi Parvati! Their other famous son is 🙏 Lord Ganapati / Ganesha ... Enjoy the attractions of Malaysia! 🌷🌿🌍💜🕊🇲🇾

Loving this series guys. George is just awesome. We need to have more adventures with George. Stacey what a beautiful Dad you have. I went to Batu Caves 25 years ago. I dont remember any of those things. Just all the monkeys and steps. Our very first os trip was to Malaysia. My son was 6 at the time. Remember teaching him stranger danger before we left. Not sure why, but i was terrified someone would pinch him for his organs. Feel so very stupid looking back. Lol A very ignorant tourist at the time. Having since travelled so much, even to places like the Sinai Desert which you can no longer go to in many parts my knowledge has come ahead in leaps and bounds.

Aww, I totally agree - very lucky to call George my Dad ❤ Having so much fun on this adventure with him. At least you were aware of the potential dangers, better to be safe than sorry, right? It sounds like you've learnt a lot over the years too! 😊

What an unexpected hotel-mall-theme park area on top of the hill! Reminds me of Universal Studios in Hollywood. That also comes with the mall (Universal CityWalk) and hotels, along with the theme park..on top of a hill. This is not the expected destination I would plan in Malaysia, but I think I will add it on when I eventually visit!

Why Genting Highlands the only Casino in Malaysia?? There are many stories about how Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong acquired that land from the State of Selangor and Pahang in 1963. On 28 April 1969, one of it saying that it only takes 6hours for Malaysian cabinet approves the casino license in the same day Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong sending his application. He is so lucky that cabinet approves the license before the 13 May incident was an episode of Sino-Malay sectarian violence that took place in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, on 13 May 1969. That is the first and last casino license approved by Malaysian Government.

There are no laws prohibiting drinking alcohol in the bus, they also passangers only not driver, the bus they are on probably is privately owned by a company too, not a public transportation.
