We simply cannot get anything like the Unicron Trilogy again. It’s design philosophy and budget just aren’t around anymore. Wish I could have been there to appreciate these distinct figures.

I feel uniquely blessed to have gotten into transformers during that era but I'll admit it leaves me a little sad with the constant G1 schlock. Where's my boy Demolisher and his mate Cyclonus? What do you mean Cyclonus is the name of some purple jet he's a helicopter. Next you're gonna tell me Megatron isn't a dark green tank with horns

@@Technochaos03 I kinda liked the healthy compromise we got with Classics, Old designs given new life in interesting and unorthodox ways. A good idea, nothing beats Megatron turning into a big obnoxious chunk of whatever the designers thought would be cool though.

I was collecting even then and I embraced the big chonkiness of the toys. Yes, the articulation was lacking in a lot of figures, but these were things that demanded to be played with! Between inflation and the growing importance of adult collectors, it'll be a long time (if ever) before we see something this good and kid friendly at an affordable price.

I think the design philosophy is still around, but only on Japan's side of the franchise. The new robots they made for Transformers Go! definitely can compete with Unicron trilogy stuff.

I had Landquake (the white recolor of Landmine) and I could never get that little sqaure button to do anything either. I think it’s supposed to make the transformation sound when you first attach it to his back in robot mode.

Super review, as always. Getting slightly concerned about the amount of punishment Repugnus is getting, though. Could you confirm for the legions of worried Repugni fans out there, that this is in fact his evil stunt double? Could Repugnus testify to that on camera, just to allay our fears?

The thing that strikes me about this toy is how much more "substantial" it is than the current voyager class. He's a big chunky boy AND has sound effects and he cost 20 bucks. Voyagers now are $35, no electronics and to get something with this much plastic now you'd have to step up to leader class, pay $55 and still no electronics.

Love me a good well executed super mode. If you get the chance to check it out the other autobot brute mode figure Bulkhead (or his redeco Quick strike) is pretty cool and lets you do the "4 armed transformer" thing I think we all thought about as kids.

With the crane, and the color scheme, and the whole Energon thing of "Armada again, but More So," was this guy related to, whatsisname, the orange crane from Armada? That one Armada toy I had that was a fun little squat guy? In the style of this channel, I could look it up but won't be bothered

The electronics will fail over time. I changed out battery, repair corroded connectors, confirmed connectors are fine but still no sound. I suspect the switch connectors are oxidized as well but too lazy to open up completely because you need to push 2 sets of pins out or else you will break it. Will leave it for next/future repair when I feel i need it. For now fixing the corroded battery connectors (due to lithium leak) will do.

yeah, the plastic of this era wasnt that great, dense but soft, i often take apart things for fun if I'm confident i can put them back together again, i turned the screwdriver one too many times on one of the treads and the peg just stripped out entirely, a similar thing happened when i was a dumb baby, i tried to Frankenstein barricade and steamhammer together like i could with the rest of my toy collection (which were all bionicle lego sets) they did not survive the process
