As recovery efforts progress, Treasure Island will reopen at 4 p.m. today. Please take a moment to watch this important message from Treasure Island Police Chief John Barkley.
• We ask that you do not visit the island unless you have official business there. Many businesses remain closed, along with parks, beaches, parking lots, and other public spaces. Contractors and heavy equipment will be active throughout the area to assist with cleanup and recovery operations. This is not the time for sightseeing. We urge everyone to be respectful as the community works to rebuild.
• The Sunset Beach neighborhood will remain accessible by foot only. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter.
• Clarification on Reports of "Looting": The Treasure Island Police Department has received concerns about people taking items left at the curb for disposal. This is not considered looting or theft if people are going through items placed out for disposal. This is why you should also take pictures of your insurance claims.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to restore our community.
