I am very happy that she was able to get this kind of treatment. I had a aneuysmal bone cyst in my skull base in the 90's. I had to fight two doctors because they kept on saying that I pulled a muscle. Finally after my 2nd attempt with one of those two doctors, he asked me "What do you want me to do?" I told him to take a CT of my head. He came back fighting tears. I ended up having to have a fusion, I do not have full function of my neck, I cannot lift over approximately 25 to 30 pounds, and I still have some paralysis on my right side of my body many years after surgery.

I had an aneurysmal bone cyst when I was eight. I had to be operated twice. They sort of explained to me what it was, but you know.. I was eight. So, now at 22 I've finally looked up what it actually was that I had. Hehe.

Wow. Wish we had doctors like this where we live. My 11 year old son fractured his humerus a week ago while throwing a football. Turns out he has one bone cyst above the fracture and possibly one at the fracture (slightly above the elbow), I guess the Ortho isn't sure yet?. We went to ER 1st but we were sent home and he was casted 2 days later by an Ortho Dr. During a follow up with regular Dr I had him check a lump on back of his head because the Ortho told me it was bone. Primary Dr said it was a lymphnode. He then proceeded to tell me there's no treatment for bone cysts anyway. He said and I quote "Well if we took the fluid out of the cyst what would you have left? A hole." I am sorry but what a flipping idiot. He then further asked me if I wanted a script for bubble wrap. Not joking. And we have decent insurance so I don't see why the Drs won't just be honest. What are we to do? Just wait until he literally falls apart? So frustrating.

Hi there. Where are you located? I see that you posted just a month ago. Please contact Nationwide Children's hospital in Columbus, OH. I have referred folks there previously and with a phone call they can try and help you. Whether it is providing you with info for doctors near by or perhaps setting up a way to see them. Ronald McDonald's house in Columbus, OH provides accommodation for families needing a place to stay while visiting a specialist.

Thanks for your response! We are located in Sioux City, Iowa and have UnitedHealthcare through a program called Hawk-I. It's like a level two Medicaid, in a way, for families who make too much for regular Medicaid. We are about an hour north of Omaha, NE and an hour south of Sioux Falls, SD. Unfortunately, my son had another fracture through a second cyst in his upper arm now. He had just got out of his sling from the 1st break, a few days prior. Stupid cysts! LOL Anyhow, I would greatly appreciate any possible options as there are not many around here. I realize these cysts are usually benign but they are also mostly solitary and he definitely has at least two so it makes it more of a concern for us even though the doctors here don't feel that way. Thank you for reading.
