Great video, I'm yet to climb a pine tree, my two colleagues removed some dead from two pines in Cheltenham yesterday. I was envious being on the ground but we take the climbs in turn.. only fair. Again great video and be safe .

Nice work . 3 questions. 1, was the drone work legal? 2, was the climber using a zigzag ? 3, was the bollard a stein ? Once again a well executed job.

Great video! Just one question is why are you anchored above some of your cuts? I'm not criticising you I'm just very curious. Thanks
@acearboricultureltd4578
6 жыл бұрын
Greg James - Hi Greg thanks for your comment, if you mean whilst a dip cut is put in, then it’s purely for work positioning. Easier than being tied in with strops and easier to set the rigging rope. 👍
@RedneckScientist
6 жыл бұрын
Ace Arboriculture Ltd thanks for the reply. It's from 7:05 I might be wrong but it looks like you are starting the felling cut cutting the wedge out? I'm still learning after doing the 9 week tree surgery course at Merrist Wood and going back this year as I didn't pass my climbing test (spiking is hard!) 😀
@acearboricultureltd4578
6 жыл бұрын
Greg James - Hi yes you are correct the anchor point is above, however perfectly acceptable as just removing the gob cut on a sound stem. You will for obvious reasons be taught not to cut timber that you are tied into. Merrist wood is a cracking place to learn I’ve been there myself !. Keep plugging away at the climbing it will come with time ... good luck and stay safe 👍

I think he was trying not to chunk big pieces onto that blue sandstone below. That stuff is expensive
@acearboricultureltd4578
7 жыл бұрын
Luc Fournier - hi Luc the reason for the small re direct was to stop the timber smashing in to the GRCS as the main rigging block is above. GRCS tend to be expensive to replace and of course the slabs are not cheap either. 👍👍

maybe poeple gave it a thumbs down because no secondary attachment point was used when operating the saw while taking the limbs. posting a vid when using bad practice is a bit irresponsible.
@acearboricultureltd4578
7 жыл бұрын
TheYakoobe ... well spotted ! but not on every cut. The video doesn't claim to be of educational purpose therefore not irresponsible. You are also incorrect. So ...... just for yourself and 'educational purposes', It clearly states in HSE AFAG401 Tree-climbing operations : Use supplementary anchors, unless the risk assessment identifies the need for the climber to be able to move freely, for example, where there is a risk of a cut section striking the climber. But thanks for you comment 🤗😝
