Thanks! Most helpful for me review I've come across. Thank you for explaining the bouncy fork concept. A lot of the reviews seem to be made for mechanics or very knowledgeable people. Trek website reviews don't really give any info that is useful to a shopper, flowery marketing lingo. This review is so useful!

Excellent video! I really enjoy my Allant+ 7S bike! I just wish that Trek had not installed a RackTime brand rear rack carrier since that requires a RackTime trunk bag or an Bontrager adapter from Trek like the MiK Rack Carrier Plate if you want to stay with the Bontrager brand for one of their trunk bags. Corporate told me that Bontrager didn't have a rack that has an electric tail light ready when the Allant came to market. That's too bad since customers want the Trek Bontrager brand instead of a substitute brand or an adapter to make the carrier rack useable.

very nice bike design, my one quibble is the handlebar height is not adjustable, an adjustable neck should be standard. Also Its nice they have a real rack that can handle side bags. Ebike mfrs do not spec motor power for some reason, just torque. Trek website specs do not list motor power. But the bike I have has a sticker on it saying 350 watt motor. The standard Bosch motor is 250 watt. So the performance speed 350 watt motor might help for heavier riders on hills vs the 250 watt motor. I had a Bafang 500 watt motor on a bike and it could do hills with a heavy rider no problem, motor would get too hot to touch but still kept running, whereas Izip ebikes with 250 watt hub motors would overheat on an uphill and the motor would stop any assist and display would show error.

I thought the video was well done and very informative. I do have a question regarding the Bosch CX motor - I have read other reviews where people commented on the motor noise. Is the CX motor know for noise and best to go with the high performance 7s?

Question: You stated that the Class 1 version (7) is better for off-road. Why? Wouldn't having the power available be an asset?

I'm getting the Trek Allant+ 7S Stagger. Where does a water bottle attach? You just mentioned the low and high step.

Trek's Removable Integrated Battery (RIB) makes it impractical to remove the battery when transporting the bike. Since the battery and cover are a single unit, when the battery is removed, the battery compartment is exposed to the elements. This is not ideal when transporting the bike on back of a vehicle. One possible solution would be for Trek to offer a cover for the battery compartment.

I use a neoprene cover when transporting it on my car. Came across it in a bike shop and fits perfectly, closes with velcro. But I agree, the battery and cover should be two separate units.

Great video! What I didn't hear is if this bike can be used for fitness / weight loss?? I understand its great for commuting however I use an FX 2 trek and it was sold to me for fitness purposes but I live in a lot of hill / up hill neighborhoods and riding it up is a pain. Can this Allant +7s be used for fitness effectively like the FX2 can? Or is there a better trek E bike for fitness? Thank you

This bike would be great for fitness! The amount of assist is just enough to where you are still using your own muscles to accelerate, the bike is just giving you a little extra push. So if you have a lot of hills where you live, this would be perfect. If you live near an Epicenter, you can come in and test ride one!

Do you sell the new DS+ for 2022? I test rode one this week that did not have a typical DS suspension fork. Is the fork an option for the 2022 DS+??? It does not seem that you can call it a DS, if there is no fork or suspension. That fork is a cornerstone of the dual sport model that I have been driving for over a decade. Appreciate your time and your feedback. Thank you.

We added a Rockshox Judy to the front of our DS + and FX + and they ride like a dream. Also some knobby tires add cushion as well

I have great difficulty walking and pedalling and I rely on my bike to get around without pedalling. What sort of range does it have if you do not pedal at all.
@mikedoyle4475

You need to pedal it to make it move; the e-assist will not work independently of pedalling.
