Can’t believe you bought this bike and changed so much. 😮

I have a Rail 5 about 10 months. I upgraded the fork to zeb 170. I did most of what you did but the rear shock been alright. The brakes i just put in ceramic pads and been great. I went to tubules tires too. I did change out stock dropper to 1up and handle bars to PNW. Mine dialed in for me now. But got nearly 7K into it. Oh i wanted 7 but too long a wait. I waited 2 months for the 5. I did get dealer to upgrade to 625 buttery for a small charge taking the 500 one. So mine is a Trek 8 plus and so is yours. You’re right the motor is great. The components were very low end. I did break one derailer and replaced with another Deore. I have over 1200 on mine in less than a year but I’m retired so plenty of time for Mtb. I did break a collar bone on those stock tires - slipping like you said. Now my Maxxis tubeless bite great.

Hi! Great insight! Wasn't it better to buy directly a higher end model, and avoid the extra expense of replacing basicaly most of the important components? Thanks!

Maaan i can’t believe that paying so much money on such a high end electic bike you get to deal woth those kind of issues. I have a trek powerfly 4.. it is a good bike but i have the same problem with the braking system from tektro. Rotor is rubbing against the brake pads and it simply does not go away. Changed rotor, brake pads.. cleaned everything.. still there. It came like this as new.. with this annoying sound. Whent back to the trek shop… they said it’s nothing wrong.. all of them make this sound lol :))

Thing is, this is no longer Rail 5 or even Rail 7, after all the parts changed, this would likely be like Rail 9 or something

Cannot believe you get a $5500 bike and have to replace all the stuff you did. Thats insane.

Thanks for this helpful review. One question: how's the battery doing now, compared to when you bought it?

You clearly bought the wrong spec for the type of riding you do. Always better to pay more fir better spec bike, otherwise false economy to buy low spec and upgrade items one at a time

Hello, I'm his son. My dad wanted me to let you know that the Marin Alpine Trail E2 Electronic Mountain Bike is a much cheaper option and is a better deal in his opinion.

Hello, this is his son! My dad wanted me to let you know that unfortunately he doesn't know of any cheaper options for electronic mountain bikes himself but he recommends that you check Jenson USA.

Ha. Basically you don’t like the bike. Nothing like buying a $5k bike that needs ample upgrades.

Cheaper bike because it has cheaper parts... how it works.. zero wrong with those parts. They work. End of. Paying more is stupid. Im looking at buying 2023 model for 1500 less than rrp!. Bargin.
