Takmak Fort Trek
The Takmak fort has a glorious past! It remained under Portuguese influence for a long time. Later on, it was won back by Marathas; it again went into the hands of Britishers, who used this fort as a prison. Today, it stands in ruins narrating its acclaimed past!
Takmak Fort
This trek is the perfect escape from the city chaos offering splendid views acting as a breather to its trekkers. It is advisable to hire a guide from the Sakawar village otherwise the trek will be confusing as you proceed. There is a fair chance to be lost in the forest in the absence of a guide; while trekking. The place seems blissful after a couple of rain showers during monsoons. It is the perfect time to explore the hidden wonder. The place is still less crowded and away from the rush of city trekkers. Misty valleys with mesmerizing views are a feast for eyes and soul as well! The fort is heaven for people who love bird watching. The complete trek is captivating, as you can listen to the chirping of birds. You may get to see some rare varieties of birds on the way.
The trek to the fort is famous for making trekkers lose their way in the middle, due to dense forest and confusing trails surrounding the fort. The trek starts from Sakawar village reaching the ridge; along the river. There are numerous marks made by fellow trekkers for guidance. This trek has everything to offer starting from fields, forest, bird watching, tricky ways, and markings all along the way.
The top presents a panoramic view of valleys provided that there are no clouds hovering over. There are water reservoirs of the bygone era containing standing water which is not at all potable. Though there is nothing much to see regarding the historical influence; at the top yet the efforts seem to be worth when marvelous natural beauty unfold benignly!
