Words cannot describe how much I loved Treme. The talent, color, art, culture, food, music, pride was a tour-de-force. Loved this song, too. Bring it back!

I was so afraid of watching Treme. I've always said The Wire is the best show in the history of television. Hell, I like it more than even my favorite Scorsese or Ford Coppola films. So the fear that Treme would be a disappointment was very real. I am just on Episode 5 of Season 4, so there's a lot to go, but I am loving it. And this song right here is fucking genius: "Now we got the people of New Orleans living on Air Force bases and in ratty-ass motels from Utah to Georgia, and people in Washington talking about keeping the housing projects closed. Yeah, that's right! They don’t want no more poor people coming back to New Orleans! But I'll you what, New Orleans without poor people ain’t New Orleans! Because it’s the people without a pot to piss in who keep the beat, and blow the horns, and step in the streets. And right now y’all are stuck listenin’ to this messed-up white boy, because whichever 14-year-old from Lafitte Projects is the next Smiley Lewis, he’s stuck out there in East Bumfuck, Texas! HE CAN’T GET HOME TO SING THIS FUCKING SONG!”

love it. shame (shame shame) that it wasn't the full version on the soundtrack with the barbara verse too. I love this programme. bought the DVD on the strength of a few friends telling me I'd love it, and they were right. place your bets how long it will take for series two to get to England (and to someone in England with no HBO) yep. looks like I'm waiting for the UK DVD release then.

When I was in New Orleans I was travelling with two other youths. All three of us very young and obviously not local. We were often at Treme at nights and at least in our cases, were absolutely fine. Amazing neighbourhood. Easily my fave part of New Orleans alongside Marigny.

I love this! Go Davis Mac!! My (then future) husband in 2005 was at the Pontalba on Jackson Square when Katrina hit, and there is NO WAY anyone who was not actually there can 'get it". But this song really belts you in the kisser!! Or should I say..kicks you in the ass! Happy to see Kermit in there, blowing!

It doesn't matter what your political affiliation is, or whether you are to the left or to the right. All that matters is that you live in a nation that still has not rebuilt one of its most beautiful and historical cities, and for that, everyone should be ashamed of themselves. So instead of bitching about political nonsense, dig deep into your pockets and help New Orleans rebuild.

The Pfister Sisters, both Davises plus killer musicians playing a great Smiley Lewis tune showing how we really feel about "w", what's not to like? Ironically, the cheaply built, vinyl sided new housing projects they are finishing buiding right now don't look like they will hold up to any hurricanes!

I grew up in NOLA. Have family in NOLA that lost their homes to flooding from Katrina. NOLA is below sea level. It's in a bowl. Sandwiched between a river and a lake. I suppose to some degree nobody was surprised the levee finally broke. That being said, there's nothing GW Bush could have accomplished by landing in NOLA . He would have only been a distraction.
