Oh youtube description box...it’s been quite some time hasn’t it? I don’t want to make this too long, but I do want to take sometime to explain a little bit of the inspiration behind this video for those that care to dive in a little deeper. And chances are if you’re actually watching this on youtube and reading this description this video is actually for you. We live in an incredible time where literally thousands of hours of content is uploaded and consumed every day. On one hand, the ability to upload something to the internet with such ease and reach a audience potentially anywhere in the world is incredible. However on the other side of that lies a reality where media is consumed so quickly, that things tend to blend together and not be appreciated as much as they may deserve because the next piece of content is coming at one quick touch of button.
This video is inspired by the nights where i would stay up and watch music videos and dance concept videos for hours on end. I would study every move and detail, and even dream about creating my own videos like that one day. I would watch these videos so many times that I would almost know the choreography just by watching sometimes. To this day there are certain music videos and dance videos that I will never forget. Each video had a unique look and feel, and was super recognizable by well thought out details like a specific location or outfit. When I was younger these are the type of videos that inspired me and really showed me that dancers and choreographers were truly artists in their own way, just like a singer or an actor. But overtime that desire that I once had to make memorable and iconic content outside of just my choreography itself faded or got outweighed by a multitude of different factors. I recognize that times have changed and sometimes it’s much easier to just post a class clip or a quick video filmed with some nice lighting. But i’m hoping that there are still some people like me that miss these types of videos and will appreciate something like this. And honestly even if there’s not, this type of stuff makes me happy so I’m gonna do it regardless lol.
Anyways, if you guys made it this far, thank you so much for reading and watching. I say this every time but I am really going to try to take some time as the year comes to a close, to film some pieces I have in the vault from this year and really put some effort into creating some content that I’m proud to share and hopefully you guys enjoy!
Thanks again to my brothers, anthony and hugh for filming this with me and making the process so enjoyable. I feel super lucky and honored whenever I get a chance to dance with these two.
