@@kristianfussell9153 do you all know the main reason rome fell? Ill tell you: the state became so corrupt and chaotic that nothing could be done, the whole economy was in the hands of a few. The same people who controlled the state. Until they were brought down. No italians would serve in roman armies anymore, the armies were filled with outsiders and germanics. Then rome split in two. The east unshackled itself from the corrupt and dying west. And survived for another thousand years. The east made reforms and decentralized the state. The main power was in constantinople. But vassals would rule communes or provinces. Much like early roman republic/empire. They made changes, they removed a super corrupt sentralized state like a cancer in a body. This all worked really well for around 400 years. Then mongols, turks, arabs came rushing at Constantinople. They fought a loosing battle for 300 years. Finally they got help from european nations. Crusaders. Letting them in to constantinople. What happened is one of the biggest betrayals in history.

The people who work their ass off to hone their character and abilites to become a perfectly suited ruler of a nation mostly are not the most popular ones. And I don't mean popular in the sense of "liked"... I mean in the sense of "known at all". It's sad and unfortunate that low-lifers like Trump, Bush, Clinton, LBJ, Nixon get pushed by media and are "made" presidents. The last good men who were president are Reagan, Eisenhower and Kennedy. Gowdy is the man. He holds people accountable no matter who they are, no matter what party they are from. He's probably the most rational and logical person in Congress. He's the hero this country needs but at the same time we don't deserve him because we're a bunch of shitheads. He will be greatly missed. He's sick of politics and I don't blame him.

It’s hard for a truly fair honest person to be in politics. One who thinks out loud weighing all the possibilities. I feel in my heart that Mr Gowdy is just such a person. Thank you for your common sense approach to the issues. Something you find no joy in doing and yet you gave your all for America. Thank you.

I am not conservative; however, Congressman Gowdy always struck me primarily as a constitutionalist whose personal ideologies guided, not overshadowed or biased, his sense of justice. I listened to him on C-SPAN and KZitem. He stood out for me as one of the few politicians I could trust. I am very sorry to see him go but I would leave too were I in his milieu. It's a scum pit. There are truer horizons for his heart and mind to follow. Thank you for your service, Mr. Gowdy.

Gowdy, respect him or not, was the ONLY man in Congress who was trustworthy 100% of the time. You ask him a question, he gives you his best answer. Always well thought out, always the truth. He now returns to private life, but I hope this is not the last time we hear/see him again. His country will miss him.

I see someone who is willing to step up to change. That is politics. It doesn't matter if you agree with him or not, that's democracy. That's his right. But he's doing something he believes in and he fiercely calls out corruption in D.C. I'd hate to be on the other side of this guy, and he's someone I won't bet against on.

I'm way late to all this, I've watched Gowdy for a couple years though. This is a sad interview. When a patriot tells you a congressional hearing will not change anybody, that's frightening. Weather he liked the job or hated it, the country won't forget his service. I know I speak for a lot of hard working, law abiding Americans when I say he will be missed.

Honor has been earned Trey if you would have done anything else in your career ; the attention to doing the right thing hasn't been presented to a lot of nothing going on or no progress ever. I'm going to recommend you for a Citation for the Medal of Freedom. You have endured an incredible amount of crap from dishonest disrespectful members acting at an elementary level intelligence. You are asked a question having only 30 seconds to respond and before you say two words , you are interrupted to the point of stealing your time to respond and then they whine that you failed to answer. Oh I would have been pissed too. How this was allowed to build up to this point is obvious by the out of control run away train of no accountability by the last administration lasting 8 years. Stellar behavior and effort by Trump says a lot about him. Constant idiocy by the House speaker masquerading as a leader demonstrating the worst example of how to take advantage of and disgrace the integrity and trust of all us. You have everything to show because everything you brought was honest and presented with the best available respect you could show for a bunch of Criminals. Tough Job and I hope your attributes rub off and or in their faces as a reminder of the importance of maintaining the standard needed for our culture to survive.
