I'm so glad I discovered this gem of an island. Not many Malaysians visit the Philippines - which is a pity because the beaches, greenery and nature here is different and unique compared to Thailand or Malaysia. It is much more rugged, adventurous and 'wild' (for lack of a better word)- and there's ALOT of jumping - jumping from bridges, from cliff faces, from rocks, from trees. People in Siargao absolutely LOVE to cliff jump.

In other announcements, I was in a KZitem movie recently. It is Malaysia's first crowdfunded film, and I'm so happy I got to be a part of it! You can check it out at this link here:

Here are some travel tips for Philippines: Manila and Siargao
1) Manila: Bring a mask, wear a mask. I did not wear a medical mask (just the cloth one- which IMHO doesn't help prevent spread of flu), and I got a bad influenza when I returned to KL. Manila is VERY VERY CROWDED
2) Manila: Negotiate and double-confirm all prices with tour guides, drivers or tour operators before doing any activity. Especially around Intramuros, there are a lot of not so honest tour operators.
3) Manila: Change extra currency! I thought Manila would be about same price as any SoutheastAsian city - its not! It's about 15% more expensive than Kuala Lumpur and 30% more expensive than Bangkok.
3) Siargao: If you don't ride a motorbike and are planning to rely on the three-wheeler (tuk-tuk), make sure you have ample coins with you (collect coins as you go along). Because if you only have notes the drivers will just say they have no change and you'll be forced to pay more than what was agreed upon
4) Siargao: Food recommendations
#1: 📍Kurvada - think mixed rice ('chap fan') - they call it 'carinderia' in Phililppines -but like for ALL KINDS OF SUPER DELICIOUS FOOD. Seriously this was one of my most exciting food experiences of 2023! There's pasta, lasagna, different types of rice, grilled squid, pork, prawns, chicken adobo, salad, vegetables, etc. etc. and on each table a giant bottle of chilli that is SO GOOD!
#2: 📍Kanin Baboy - Location: Along Tourism Road, General Luna
Opening Hours: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily
Contact Number: 09465542399
LECHON is to die for. Sinigang also very good
#3: 📍CFC Restobar (Catangnan Fried Chicken) - Cloud 9 | Catangnan, General Luna.
Delicious fried chicken and burgers. Nothing more to say.
If you want to visit Siargao island do hit up some friends of mine who just started a tour company. They are good, solid folk and will get you sorted with your entire Siargao trip.

Income inequality is no joke in Manila. If you'd like to help out, here are two organisations I've researched and discovered who are really making a positive difference there and are very credible, worth it organisations to donate to:
