Purchased my N90 from a community college student who needed $. Like you the draw for buying that camera was it's compatibility with my F mount lenses. Have it today and use film frequently but I need my own darkroom again. Enjoyed your video - GREAT portraits! Keep on keeping on friend. Began my photography journey as a newspaper photographer back in '73.

Thanks for sharing. Think I'm too old to do the darkroom thing, but keep scratching my head about it.

Wow! Those shots in SE Asia are amazing. You should do a video on your images and experiences there.

If you had used rubbing alcohol instead of something more active, you still would have the icons on the back. Too late now, but do that on the N90s, that camera is a bit still better.

Actually, when I bought my N90 its back was as seen here, clean and shiny - never had those N90s icons on it.

@@burromeister At this point in time all backs of F90/F90x/F801/F801s must be sticky, so the rubber coating has to be removed. There are different "recipies". Often recommended is to use isopropilic alcohol. But I found that one also dissolves the pictograms. I use rubbing (denaturated) alcohol. You have to rub a lot more, it goes not as fast, but the pictograms remain.

@@MezeiEugen Sort of. That fount of all knowledge, Wikipedia. says "Rubbing alcohol is either an isopropyl alcohol or an ethanol-based liquid, with isopropyl alcohol products being the most widely available. The comparable British Pharmacopoeia is surgical spirit. Rubbing alcohol is denatured and undrinkable even if it is ethanol-based, due to the bitterants added." We call denatured alcohol Methylated Spirits, leading to a friend of mine, whenever religion came up, referring to himself as a methylated spiritualist. Frequently rubbing alcohol is isopropyl diluted with water, and often has herbs and spices (e.g. oil of wintergreen) added. Contrary to what is said, methylated spirits *can* be drunk - but this isn't recommended practice as it will eventually kill you after you've gone blind! I have had success in unstickying my F80s with 100% isopropyl, but there isn't any printing on the vinyl-like parts that get sticky. Never had it near the painted (anodised?) parts with writing on. Oh, and wear gloves. The alcohol will leach subcutaneous fat, giving you a severe case of prune fingers! I think that what you're removing isn't rubber, but is the oils seeping out of a material that resembles vinyl. But I could be wrong and it might really be rubber. Whatever, you aren't removing rubber, just the stickyness, unless you're being very vicious.
