I heard about Richard Donner’s passing today. He lived a great life. 91 years old sounds way young, he is one of the best directors of all time. 2 Superman Movies, Lethal Weapon’s 1-4, The original Goonies and become a producer of the X-Men film series alongside his wife. He’ll be missed dearly. Thank you, Mr. Donner for all the memories. The grandfather of superhero movies.

Donner is still the best director to understand how a superhero movie should be made. He accomplished it so well with the first Superman in 1978 and then got screwed over by the studio (AKA the Salkinds and Pierre Spengler) immediately after (even though he had already filmed half of the sequel). Thankfully he went on to make such other classics as The Goonies and the Lethal Weapon franchise, while the Salkinds and Spengler accomplished literally nothing else after they failed with what THEY wanted Superman III to be. Very glad to see that Hollywood still honors the man that brought us so much joy and excitement in cinema.

I've always dreamt that I'd be at one of these Q&A's just to first thank him for making the best Superman movie Hollywood ever had. Second, to ask him what would have been his and Tom Mankiewicz's vision for Superman 3 if he had the chance to do that. We already saw his vision for the Part 2 with the director's cut. This director is a real legend . His SUPERMAN movie is STILL the movie that's most respectful and faithful to the comic book . He even made one of the best TWILIGHT ZONE episodes with overactor William Shatner . One of my favorite movies of his was one of his least successful movies called INSIDE MOVES . At the ending of the movie he shared a picture of himself and his film crew at the end with the credits .

Goonies Ladyhawke Omen 16 Blocks Maverick Radio Flyer Inside Moves Toy Assassins Conspiracy Theory Timeline Superman (1-2) Scrooged Lethal Weapon (1-4) DAMN! that collection of movies is really great and saying that, how can you not respect him or appreciate his work ? i mean, you got some classics, superman's very first film, fantasies and sci-fies full of unsuspecting twists, maybe the best buddy cop in history, a more realistic version of a christmas classic by having real people instead of make believe characters.... i mean what more can you ask for so for that he has earned my respect and im proud to say that i binge watched all his films more than once and if there is one (or more) you haven't seen yet i strongly recommend them all RIP Mr Donner
