Trichotillomania, "trich" for short, is a mental health condition in the family of Obsessive Compulsive disorders, characterized by persistent urges to pull hair from eyelashes, eyebrows, scalps or anywhere else on the body.
For over 20 years, Aneela Idnani Kumar hid her hair pulling disorder. When Idnani Kumar and her husband searched for treatment options, they were disappointed by what they found. So they decided to create their own solution.
With John Pritchard and Kirk Klobe, Aneela Idnani Kumar and husband Sameer Kumar formed HabitAware, a mental health technology startup. Keen is the result of their inventive thinking, a wearable device designed to help "retrain your brain" from hair pulling, thumb sucking, skin picking or nail biting.
