Quality videos like yours don't need any background music or cheesy sound effects. Just the facts, sir, just the facts plain and simple. Thumbs up, anyway.

Same with drilling a plumb hole. When I'm trying to teach someone that's totally green like my 11yr old son for instance, 1 way I like to gage their general level of awareness is hand them a drill & tell them to drill a hole or 2 and just observe. Are they aware of what they are actually doing with their hands what's their body posture like do they look like a wet noodle holding the drill or are they squared up on it w their body, is it occurring to them to keep the drill straight & square cuz in my experience it isn't always immediately obvious to someone who's new at it. Helping them understand how to properly hold a tool and the proper bodily mechanics of how to use it is a huge step in advancing ones ability in carpentry it's one of those things that just makes nearly everything much easier and come out better.

Thanks you man! I watched like 10 videos in this. Lots of dummies with angle grinders. Etc. I was tempted to use my nice miter saw, but I don’t want to gum up my blade, melt the edges of the PVC or make that much of a mess. I have over 40 cuts to make. I think I’ll try this method over a garbage can. Perfect. Way to go man. Best hack (no pun intended).

You will not gum up your miter saw. And if you cut outside the miter saw will give the best results. But lots of shavings too.

What keeps the sawzall blade from cutting into the clamps....Just going by feel with the least resistance? I’ve always used the more aggressive blades for demolition.. I suppose a fine tooth blade for this ?

Scott Wojo ok well I really liked the video and even used the tip you were showing your viewers and I gotta say it worked great! However the sound effects almost made me turn off the video at the beginning because I was listening to this video for the first time through headphones. I also had them to almost full volume when the first sound effect hit. I threw my headphones off of my head because my eardrums felt liked they popped!! Haha please use these sound effects sparingly and quietly next time, and/or even have a caution in your video either in the introduction or maybe the description. Just so no one else experiences what I did listening to this video for the first time! Thinking about it afterwards it was pretty funny LOL!! Well thank you for the great tip and demonstration video. Keep up the great work!

@johnbarker2506

@@scottwojo7881 You can also take a circular saw and flip the blade backwards to get a very smooth straight cut on PVC just with a pipe you need to spin while you cut it... Also, this is nice but sort of useless you can just start slow and hold it steady and it'll save you plent of extra time to mess with clamps lol...

Ryan, use a chop saw mr prefect. Everyone has a Sawzall. Not everyone has a Milwaukee pvc shear. If you did this more than once you would be a big dummy. If you are doing a rough in, you probably already know how to cut pipe straight. This is for people who don’t do plumbing every day.

You"d need about 3 weeks to rough in a 2.5 bath house with that method(drains/vents only). Hopefully you aren't using the same method to cut your copper or pex straight! Great idea but certainly not practical in the real world of plumbing. It's all in the reciprocating saw you choose(and the blade of course).
