Solid review. Speaking to the ruggedness; I've had this mounted on an SR25 ACC for 7 months or so, and have about 1100 rounds in that time. The scope has held up very well against the heat, cold and dust, here in Northern Nevada. So far the bell around the objective lens has suffered a dent at 12 o'clock,. I throw my rifles in the back seat, patrol with them, and use them hard. This dent is a result of my rough handling.

A Night Force 2.5-10x24 is 17 oz. and smaller in overall size. I use mine with an angled T1. The t1 is about 3oz I think, so about 20 oz over all without mounts. Larue mounts are relatively light. What really makes it nice is that you are able to leave your angled red dot on while you clip on your IR Hunter mk II. Makes it really nice when moving in and out of artificial light. I loose that ability when going straight to a single dedicated day optic.
@andy366919

delta3two It depends on a lot of different variables. Is first focal plane a plus when shooting long range precision? Yes. It is, and that's why I have one on my bolt gun. In fact I run a leupold mark 6 3-18 and it's awesome. The first focal plane is nice for lots of different reasons as I don't need to explain. But, on a 2.5 to 10, it's not exactly necessary for it to be 1st focal plane. I find myself running it on the 2.5x, 4x, or 10x. When I'm running it on 2.5 and 4x I'm within 150 yards and my ballistic drop is rather insignificant. Much further than that and I turn up my power to 10x. So basically, anything after 150 stays on 10x . Not much of an issue for me. In the world of scopes, 10x isn't that much anymore and I never find my self scaling back at distance. I have never run into any problems with my setup and I use it extensively from cqb-800 yards. I do sometimes wish I had more magnification at distance but I'm not willing to take on the extra weight and bulk. Also, my angle aimpoing didn't work with my Leupold 1-8 cqbss. It was cumbersome and annoying. So why have an angled red dot when you have a 1-8? Because I need a day optic for when clearing a room with white light on or doing react to white light drills at night. It's also there because I run a thermal scope at night (IR Hunter mkII). I unclip the 2.5-10 and place the mk2 on when desired. I do this because I don't like clip on's because I don't like all that weight out front. Anyway, my thumbs are getting tired. I personally don't feel that first focal plane is worth taking on the extra weight and bulk thus sacrificing maneuverability. To each their own I guess

Aaron, this the second video in which you refer to the objective lens diameter as the field of view. I have subscribed and enjoy your videos because you seem to have a very solid understanding of a wide variety of technical issues but this is one area where your description is flawed. A larger diameter objective lens does not equate to a wider field of view. Field of view is given in degrees, milliradians or feet at 100 yards or meters at 100m. Eye relief also plays a part in determining field of view. That is one reason why the 4x32mm ACOGs have such a short eye relief....so that it can increase the available field of view.

My 16 is fantastic, no issues and runs like a clock, and i carried an m14 for quite a few deployments and that's when my love affair started. the scar took down a vortex razor 1-6 gen 2, 4-16 nightforce atacr, and a trijicon srs. All optics that I love and have run hard before and after(all got repairs under warranty). No doubt the scar is a fantastic rifle, and when ran professional when replacement parts and broken shit comes out of the army's dime not yours I wouldn't mind, but when its my wallet I cant do it. Look towards chris bartoccis channel for more insights into the issues with the 17 overall, mine mirrored that essentially.

1/10 is already here. if you estimate sales and produce, you tend to want to exhaust that inventory before releasing the next in line. It's called control and manipulation. If you can obviously get it in a bigger rifle scope or from the eye doctor in the form of glasses, it doesn't need to be figured out, it has been. It's available when sales decline just like your computer software operating system is already outdated when your allowed to purchase it. Understand, antivirus, isn't even needed but the circumstances and programs were created and you always have to get the next new system ... control and manipulation.

I cannot decide between this and the Leupold MK6. I don't really think I need the extra 2X but I guess it can't hurt. Yeah this has a little bit better field of with the larger objective however I'm not sure it's worth the extra weight. I don't have the ability to compare them in person. Agree with all the points you made on the turrets, but if I had it my way the windage turret would be just a regular ol capped low profile knob with no zero reset or anything like that. If you're dialing for wind with a scope like this, you're doing it wrong. Might as well cut the weight, bulk, and maybe a little cost. Also wish the throw lever was a little bigger.

Just a random observation I’ve made with Japanese scopes... reticle bleed.. I’ve seen it in the Burris xtr II 1-8 (ballistic dot) and the weaver 3-15 tactical mildot ... both near the top end of brightness .. the one positive I’ve seen with all Burris xtr scopes is no reticle bleed out the front objective .. I hope to get my hands on an accu power 1-8 soon

Do you have an opinion about the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x for a less expensive option that still seems to have a good reticle with decent glass? I'm considering selling my ACOGto fund another optic and the Trijicon seems really nice but I could get 2 Strike Eagles and mounts for the same price. Do you think the Trijicon is worth the extra dough to a regular guy or is it more glass than most will know how to use? Thanks.

....EXACTLY where I’m at..with BOTH of those optics. I already have a 4X32 and really like it but on the Colt AR. THIS would be going on the SCAR 17..

SageDynamics Do any of your contacts have information or can confirm if Trigicon is planning to offer a version this scope with the ACSS reticle like the ACOG?

Nobody said anything about using a 300zx as a shooting target. Everyday we stray further from Gods light.

Nice review. I'm happy with the Trijicon Accupower 1X4 at this time...the 1X8 looks beefier in size, and weight not to say its a bad thing.

Would you recommend this for a SCAR17s or would you go with an ELCAN 1.5x6?

It's taking to long to get on target with this . you can't get on target in less then half a second you might not get another second .

Building my first SPR style AR in 5.56, and I was wondering if this is the variable magnified optic you would recommend. I am a Paramedic, so this is not a duty weapon, and I would use it for long range as well. Thank you for your time and great reviews.
