Trimming Jungle Val aquarium plant and Propagating. This aquarium plant is one of my all time favorites. When you trim jungle Val plants it sends distress signals through the plant to propagate. Jungle Val is also known as vallisneria.I talk about a couple tips to get this plant to grow like crazy for you.

Hi all. I'm in the planning stages of my 38l (10 gallon) and wanting an idea of plant numbers. I don't want it to be overly planted yet neither do I want it looking barren. Its L20 x W10 x 12.5H inches so obviously small. I'm looking at the smaller echinodorus like aquartica, purpurea, midifleur and/or grisebachii, Hottonia Palustris, Samolus Floribundes, Helanthium Bolivianum etc etc.

I don't want to over purchase and waste money and just bin the leftovers. If anyone can advise and show pictures I'd be very grateful. TIA.
Imo just buy them. 100% may not wont work out/ and you can just set up a bucket and float extras. Move a light over then for 4+ hours and then be fine. Plus, i and others dont know what you consider over crowded or barren.
Whenever a plant stretches out like that and has big spaces in between foilage that means it's stretching trying to find light you'll know you have enough light because your plans will kind of stay short and get very bushy and filled out.
8ish types of moss that I tied to rocks just to hang out while they found new homes... and months (a year) later they've taken over my tank and covered well over $100 in pogostemon helferi (downoi) because I liked how the moss looked and wanted to see what would happen.
Does anyone know what this thick dark algae is?! I’ve tried so many things to stop it
It’s so thick it clogs filters, kills plants and now it’s covering my plants and bubbling?? It’s in a 50gal pond in my greenhouse. I used to grow plants in here nicely, how can I prevent this algae?? I’ve even hooked like 3 filters at once to it, didn’t work. When the algae gets bad so does the ammonia and it killed off my one fish.
I think a lot of people are going to say black beard algae but I didn’t think it is. I have the same stuff and haven’t found out too much about it. It’s really tough stuff! I’ve been able to keep it in control by keeping consistent with larger water changes, consistent CO2 and keeping and eye on parameters. With all that I still have a bit and I think the only way to really get rid of it is to take the tank apart for a deep clean and restart.
I think I had some of the same stuff in my tank. Kind of long hair like algae, blocked everything. I actually went to the store and bought 10 ghost shrimp and they took it back pretty quickly actually.
It’s less long hair and more of like a thick, gummy black stuff that coats everything
It’s got a purple tint when you shine light on it and theirs bubbles coming from it as it almost seems to eat the plants.
I had some outbreaks myself. I removed any carbon in my filter and use only sponges. Filled the tank with some hornwort and let it do its job. It all went away and the hornwort collected it all and died.
