Hey everyone and welcome to my South Shore Line in train video!!! This video is going to cover the aspects of the route between Chicago, IL and Portage, IN. The trip was 1 hour and 15min. We will be riding aboard the iconic single level EMUs that are seen on most South Shore trains!!!
The South Shore Line, as mentioned in the video, is owned by NICTD. It is a state owned company that runs specifically for Northern Indiana. The SSL is a bi-state commuter rail system that runs across Northwest Indiana to Chicago. More info can be found in the link below:

The SSL has a large fleet of rail cars that are built by Nippon Sharyo. They even have double decker EMUs which are also built by Nippon Sharyo sometime in the early 2000s which are the same models as the ones that the Metra Electric have. Here’s more information about the single level EMUs:
