It’s not hard at all. When you learn the language from an specific area you can recognize when the person speaking has an accent and you can also easily identify where the accent is coming from. When I learned english I could identify almost immediately if the accent was Australian, Chinese, Italian or Spanish. I do the same with Spanish and Portuguese.

I wish I can but as you get older, its hard as hell and I'm 20. Even much younger than that, I spoke multiple languages like Arabic, French and Spanish but not having a good support system nor family to help made me lose it and now my brain is horrible making it hard to learn.

It becomes quite insane when you are at 8+ or 10. Although him choosing Mandarin and SEA language makes it a bit harder to learn unless you have good resources. I speak 4 and know parts of 4 others. Some are also interchangeable

Your understanding as a whole becomes more advanced, so in future language learning your brain just instinctively knows how to pick up new information. And on top of that, languages aren't so different. After all, the languages we see in the world today came from a few main groups of languages back in the day. Chinese, japanese and korean interchange around 50% of vocabulary and grammar points between each other. Knowing one of them makes learning the other insanely easier. It's similar with Spanish and Italian, and a few other languages. Flashcards are saving my life when it comes to learning languages, spaced repetition systems are the best.

Because they are chinese indonesian, taught chinese by mom, taught indonesian in school, english on social media. It's easier when ur younger. I was born in greece and left greece to go to the UK when I was like 5 and a half so I started learning English when I was like 4 and within a few months of being in England I picked it up (it's wayyy easier if u actually go to the country of the language u want to study) and now I'm also learning French and German and I find it easier than others probs because I already have experience of learning a foreign language

Eh, that's really not all that difficult. My mom doesn't speak English at all and even she can recognize a French speaker. Of course, French accent is easy mode, but the point still stands. If you speak just a little bit of English, you can recognize *most* accents

What about the accents from Americans from the Northern US as opposed to the accents from the southern US? Actually that wouldn’t be so difficult. I believe being able to pick out the difference between a person from Eastern US as opposed to Western US would be a little more challenging.

Actually almost all Africans speak at least 2 if not 3 languages (the original ones plus the European one of the colonizers) and the same happens in Latin-America. In my case, I was born and live in Argentina 🇦🇷 and I speak 7 languages.😉

It's happen to me now😭 I'm Indonesian and try to use English more lately (never use bahasa Indonesia subtitle whenever watch a video and read more books in English) But sometimes I just forget the word I need to say. Thanks God I didn't forget my mother language (Javanese)
