Shout out to the news anchor for still coming into work despite all the sprinters

Sprinters are my canon, choosing to play with them instead of shamblers when I first started was a unique experience to say the least.

My fat ass wouldn't survive 5 minutes with 28 Days Later Zombies, not saying I would survive Walking Dead Zombies, but at least I wouldn't be out off breath

If sprinters remained canon, there wouldn’t be an exclusion zone, there wouldn’t be a slow, dreadful buildup to the end. Knox County would have collapsed in a single night.

Literally just 28 Days Later. Sprinting infected overrunning the countryside and eventually the cities turning chaotic.

I fully relate to that Twitter post of someone saying they would off themselves if zombies were at all like World War Z, 28 Days Later or L4D

shambling zombies would only really be possible if the disease made the host either: 1: lock up their joints/ muscles. 2: eat their muscle mass, or 3: their running would degrade their muscles. if zombies were real, it would be a case of, they're crazed humans forced to spread the disease against their will. no hambies like in AOUAD, no special infected like in nearly every single zombie game ever. just the sprinting horde, and five bullets left in your gun.

I like how news in fiction always report on this as "spontaneous violence" or some such nonsense when Zombie lore should be established enough that I feel news (at least today) would clearly report on cannibalistic tendencies or a rabies-like outbreak because that's more specific and logical than "oh no where does this random unexplained biting murder-spree come from by suspects that do not respond to verbal input or any logical human behavior anymore?!" No critique to you OP, just saying I find the logic often funny :D Nowadays within the first day of news coverage people would speak of zombies or rabies infected. Likely including news themselves :D

Idk. It frankly depends on how events unfold. It's possible we get the "random acts of violence" reports at first, and then soon after being bluntly told "The dead walk the streets."

Zombie media doesn’t exist in Project: Zomboid - so that presumption of “Violent people running folks down and eating them = Zombies” would not have been made. Same situation in other franchises like The Walking Dead.

@@Xanmanbro The concept of rabies or cannibalism does exist though, easiest references to make.

@@Unknown-ek1ox Well, it is set in roughly 1993 and at this time, a lot of news networks are competing against each other but generally all news networks, big or small, operate with a modus operandi of "make sure we don't get banned or criticized on air" which typically means showcasing vague PR level rhetoric whilst also covering news. Because if it was the case of news media just blatantly telling the public what was going on, there'd be no need to get a four year-degree to beat around the bush to millions of people on TV about events that could, in this example, be summarized as "people are eating each other!" Not exactly a very calming, reassuring sentiment to have and definitely not definitive either as the whole idea is that the Knox event is ongoing, and all details are unclear, but I understand what you mean. If this was set in a time period like the 2010s or so, then I would 100% agree with you. People would immediately take to social media if it was the 2010s - 2020s and independent journalists would probably cover this type of stuff faster than legacy media. People would be armed, stocked and ready to support Louisville in a matter of seconds if PZ was set in the 2020s.
