I will never complain about my easy job again in my life after this...nevermore! I work as a general assistant cleaning the kitchen, lounge and bathrooms of a restaurant with a maximum capacity of 120 people. For many it is not an easy job, but what I do is a walk in the park compared to this dangerous and difficult profession.

In the seventies when I first started working on the rigs we had two men on the tongs, lead and dummy. Then the third man was the motorman who spun the chain and we had a derrick man on top . Least ways that’s how I remember it.

😂😂😂😂😂 women would STRUGGLE just pulling up the slips a few times….. with BOTH floorhands if they were both women. I’m not discriminating it’s just a fact about the physicality like testosterone, more fast twitch muscle fibers, overall leverage based on average height/weight, etc. Some things aren’t realistic although I HAVE met one or two women in my LIFETIME that could probably hold it down. The rotary table lock he latched on the floor is more than likely worn out from decades of use . He noticed rite off it was tripped . I used to put a pipe wrench handle down in the hole after switching back to the closed position. Spent years working on all sorts of rigs. Work work work.
@BaronEvola123

It took a bit, but I think I figured it out. Chain on bottom pipe. New pipe comes in. Careful of your head. Chain gets thrown around new pipe which tightens section (careful not to lose a hand.) Clamps on bottom pipe keep pipe from turning. Clamp comes off. Stabilizer? (spacer)at the bottom, which keeps pipe even and straight and is heavy as AF gets yanked out. (Careful of your back.)
