From the factory, the throttle mapping has his bike neutered. It's still insane, but with a throttle mapping fix it becomes even more insane. Gains 40+ HP at the top end from a simple throttle mapping change.

@@MrDarcy-OlMan I had it done to mine and going past 4000 RPM is even more brutal. On the factory mapping, even with a full twist you're only getting ~61% throttle to the engine. The tune makes 100% be 100%.

I bought an identical Rocket GT, to the one you reviewed and I couldn’t agree more, with the “get to know it” statement I bought mine used, it’s a 2021 and had 2035 miles when I bought it in early November. It’s January 8 now and it’s got 3500 miles on her. I’m still getting to know her, but I love it more with every ride The 1st owner put a werx exhaust on it. (I was going to ride a speed master next) I fell in lust with this Rocket, as soon as I cranked it up, that werx exhaust is intoxicating As I was leaving the dealer parking lot, waiting for a break in traffic to take my test ride, my leg holding the bike up was shaking uncontrollably, I was so intimidated at 1st But you’re right, it has incredible low speed manners BUT….that TORQUE….is incredible I love your channel and would love to see you guys cross the pond and do some ride reviews here in Texas (or anywhere else in America) I think you’d enjoy doing some unrestricted riding Keep up the excellent job

Previous R3 owner here with over 130000klm on one 2005 R3 and near 40000k on another 2010 R3R . I've ridden the new R3R and was very impressed how much more nimble it was compared to my old R3. The brakes are amazing! My only criticism is that rear guard look, the panniers are too small and wind protection options aren't very good. I'm going to upgrade to either this or an Indian Challenger, though I would miss the power and torque of my old R3

Since it was launched and after having seen almost all videos on the net, I had "forgotten" this bike. I asked : Who needs such a thing? However I understand the need for a Gold Wing or a HD CVO, but.... All over the world it was claimed for being intimidating in some aspects like the weight and engine capacity. The time passes, Indian is about to launch the new Chief models, HD launches the 114 c,i. in the Sreet Bob, and BMW goes on with the R18... and you are making me think about all them in another slightly mild and forgiving way.

@@dell5338 we don't get the Moto Guzzi California here anymore unfortunately, and Moto Guzzi aren't very forward in lending bikes to people like us anyway. Maybe it's an American thing, but here, that exhaust would be considered as sounding bad. It honestly sounds like a powerful sewing machine. Exhaust would be the first thing I change.

I ride a 2008 Triumph Rocket Touring. Changes gear like an old tractor but has limitless character. This new GT needs to be brought to market in a touring form. Solid side bins, screen etc. It's an amazing bike as is and would choose the GT over the R. Great review guys 👏

At 5’8” I’d probably go for the R. Not a fan of forward controls but a big fan of shaft drive and the layout of the bike looks very easy to live with.

I picked up a GT back in October and I love it, the forward controls made all the difference for me when trying to decide between the R and GT. Also I'm glad your tester had the side bags and you guys demonstrated the operation of them. I was looking into getting them but just didn't know how they worked taking them on and off, so thank you

Excellent Brad! Good to hear. We thought the bags were very good. The fitting bracket also folds up when the bags are off which is brilliant

Might need tyres with a bit more tread. At 5’8” I’d opt for mids and a larger screen for winter.

Hey guys! Great work on this review. I have been intrigued by this machine ever since they released it. I have seen the GT in the flesh but I have not sat on one yet nor have I ridden one. I haven't really wanted to because I knew that if I did I may well end up wanting one. Ol' Man, Mate, you looked right at home on this machine! I really do like how they have engineered the rider triangle so that larger riders can be comfortable too. The cockpit, well... It's not bad. I think it's clever how they designed and laid everything out, but personally I think the display should be a bit larger. Or go with a full TFT. But I think I could get used to it. One thing that really got my attention was that Corbin, the legendary seat maker here in California, has created a touring solution for this bike that includes hard bags and a nice batwing fairing. It looks awesome! But oh, the cost. Aye, there's the rub! The cost will keep me away from this one I 'm afraid. Great bike though. I like this new Rocket 3 way better than the previous gen. Thanks again for the review. Cheers!

I just traded my 2019 Fat Boy on 4/12/22 for a 2022 Triumph Rocket 3 GT 221. Now all I need is some globull warming in Chicago so I can ride it. The seat on the R3 is about 3” higher than the Fat Boy so that’s something I need to get used to. I’ve had it a week and I’ve only been able to ride 140-miles due to the crap weather. Triumph recommends 1k-miles to completely break in so it will be a while before I can tear it up in sport mode. 😎🇬🇧

Beautiful bike with one visual flaw. That rear fender is really weird looking. They should have just went with the full fender. Otherwise, Triumph does it again with another in a long line of great bikes.

My Xdiavel delivers 52-55mpg, sounds incredible (too loud with the termigoni and baffle out) but, sport is a bit snatchy some of the finishing looks better on the Triumph. For me the shaft drive is ideal but a belt drive on the X is the next best thing. The pannier setup is better thought out as I had to go after market. I do think both bikes are very similar and are best for comparison as power cruisers.
