Maxime Schmitt Thanks pal. In reality I've only learned the English little by little by watching tv. Especially with Jerry Seinfeld in the 90's. I still have a lot to learn.by the way this little silly "war" between Anglos and Francos would never happen if everybody would be bilangual. If people in Quebec city refuse to speak English that's fine!! They just don't know all what they're missing. That's all.

Or the extra money spent by regular citizens to learn french to get government jobs, at both the provincial and federal levels.

They're theoretically bilingual; English classes are mandatory from grade 1 an up. However, lot of the interviewees seemed pretty old, so maybe their education in English wasn't so consistent. Several of the people also seemed to be tourists from France. And this is Quebec City we're talking about; the people there don't have many opportunities to practice speaking English, and maybe they had a hard time understanding Triumph's accent. The situation would've been different closer to Montreal.
