The hollow dowels locating the cam ladder are actually part of SAI system and feed the exhaust ports with recycled gases . Now is the time to replace the hollow dowels with 10mm diameter 14 mm long solid dowels if you are are doing a proper job of removing the reed valves and disconnecting the SAI system ,either blanking off the plates or using them as additional engine breathers at the top end of the engine ,which is highly recommended . Just blank off the airbox inlet pipe add a 15 Ohm x 15-25 Watt resistor ( the gold Arcol aluminium clad ones look cool and are more robust and mount with cable ties ) across the plug in the loom for the SAI solenoid. just removed . Run the hoses from the old reed valve covers into a tee piece and either into the old airbox union or preferably a 1 litre dump bottle secreted away .

When removing the cams, do you have to wedge the chain and tensioner blade in place?

How do you tighten the cam cover bolts? it doesn't look like there's a lot of room between the short ones and the frame

I set the cam chain tensioner without lining up the timing dot. Then rotated the chain with a socket on the crankshaft and the dam chain shuddered. I realized snd then reset everything lining up the dot. However, i noticed small metal shavings appeared on the cam chain. The shavings look to be copper and chrome…. Where could they have come from? Any thoughts gratefully received…

Thanks for a very good vid. I did notice the safety clip on the oil fill. I'm guessing its a trackbike?

Street and track, but that's standard protocol for our track day organizers, oil fill, oil drain as well as oil filter, all safety wired.

So cylinder number one is on the opposite side of the timing cover on the 675?

Did it run after this video? Noticed your cam lobes are in a different position during install, compared to removal. I'm stuck at the moment getting mine aligned properly.

No, the engine was too badly damaged. The cost of replacing the damaged components was around $3800, so we just bought a replacement used engine. The video showing the valve adjustment was done on the replacement engine and it ran fine.

Very good video, thanks for posting! Just one little thing came to my mind was missing. To make sure the tensioner spring is still in good shape rotate the engine before putting the valve cover back on and wait for another "click" from the tensioner. I´ve done that job multible times to my daytonas and had problems with loose tensioners wich resulted in chain-ratteling at cold starts. Also to mention to be very careful with the screw on the tensioner. I know experienced mechanics that ruined the thread.

Can you help me fix my 2015 Daytona it's stalling on 4th gear and after heating refuses to shift to 2nd gear. Here in India, no engineer is skilled enough to solve the issue. Please help if you can , I really love my Daytona.
