i’ve lost count how many times i’ve watched this show! You can tell how much the kids bought in to what they were doing! More energy from these kids than most of the top 12!

This was a show that will haunt me i just barely missed getting into the seats and watched the show beside a very upset lady with a tiny view of the tv, the instant i heard the hit i knew it was the sunburst from what i saw and wow it was amazing even from the stairs

LOS will **never** be able to make up to either the Troopers or the various fans the loss of seeing that in finals, because of their astronomical fuc**up with ticketing/entrance that day

Lindsey, words cannot express; but tears can. The show I saw in person was Winston Salem, the first show back from standstill with 40 some members not marching. And the crowd was blown away. The members were so calm, professional & serious coming on the field. I lost my sh**!!! HLD!

Troopers' gutsy show was a stark commentary on America's oil dependence, its toxicity, and our need to put a halt to traditional corporate oil for profit. There, I said it boldly. The show was spirited, high stakes and passionate, with righteous assaults against the old boy network (supervisor on a barrel), a whip-smart and anti-establishment assault on the war for oil history of our country, upending drum corps' adherence to the military industrial complex which tainted our military conflicts. One of Troopers' musical selections, Johnny Comes Marching Home, has a new meaning now-- we're more aware of war for oil schemes, corporate profiteering and bold efforts to smear clean energy. The traditional Troopers starburst is replaced with an oil spill, poisoning its surroundings, a brilliant upending of the time-honored drill move. Now kids are able to respond when people ask "What's your show about?" Marchers can now avoid the sad cheerleading camp response, "Our show is about working together and making friends." Diva, no. This show is about envisioning a new future without toxic fossil fuel, and cleansing ourselves of old traditions that support it." Drum corps is now a smart, passionate performing art with thematic arguments and raison d'etre.

@@jackcallahan1848 Sadly, marching members and alumni are conditioned to ignore design. They've seen so many weird designs, that they ignore abstract elements in bad shows. They're so used to ignoring bad design, that they've recently started ignoring smart design elements too. They're not even paying attention to design in well-constructed shows like this. They're numb to seeing legitimate patterns and symbols, metaphors and themes. It's an appalling dumbing down that's happened. Let's take the sunburst, the traditional Troopers drill element. In this show, it's a sunburst pattern but represented as an oil spill. That's a brilliant social commentary with layers of meaning-- she even mentions the new spin on tradition. (Not enough, but she mentions it.) Marchers aren't taught design. They're in the dark about show elements. Many performers have no idea what intended meaning is behind their show. For example, in Felliniesque, the limping circus clown is trying to commit suicide by jumping off a cliff, but the cliff keeps extending until an angel with a black umbrella saves him. That's a metaphor for Fellini's frustration and depression over his work in film. He is a tragic comic figure, constantly combating absurdity in his life, constantly trying to build meaning and legitimacy. At the end of the show, all the clowns gather, the actors without pants, Claudia Cardinale, the limping clown, the dancing girls, the stage hands and freaks. They only have each other-- that's a Humanist view worthy of examination, not dismissal by a sophomoric guttersnipe like you who wouldn't know a symbol from a cymbal.

All of the marchers and staff, and of course the drill designer understood the reasoning behind concepts and specific designs. Obviously she doesn’t go extremely in depth on the design because this video is only a few minutes long. You have no reason to try to put words in her mouth about what our show meant, when she clearly is talking on surface level for the video.

DCI should really rethink its take on what's important when judging.....not how many props and dance moves you can do...... But audience engagement, more drill (not all this pod walking/stand and play sections) More audience relatable shows, with sections that can have their abstract ideas. I miss those (audience out of their seat moments).....2021 phantom really brought that back and was amazing

Troopers are still an effectively small corps community without the $$ of the Bloo, Cadets, or BD epic multilayered community, so they will never have the massive gravitation pull that those other communities have. They performed brilliantly, especially for nearly being knocked out by COVID later in the season, but well that is when it comes down to execution and musicality. It is a testament to the old guard and hardcore supporters that Troopers have been able to survive that long, wayyyy the heck out in Casper. Not even the largest city of the smallest population state.

I've been watching /a fan of the Troopers for most of my life. I'm old enough to remember seeing them on national TV when they performed live at an NFL game. My take on this piece: 1. There is a classic Troopers look, and it is missing here. The hat covers are great, but the top is missing. 2. I've never been to a drum and bugle corps show to hear electronics, and in this case, woodwinds. As wonderful as (I'm sure) they are, it only serves to distract from horns, drums and color guard. 3. Decent concept.
