I really like the sweat granadilla… certainly the best tasting passionflower in my opinion.

I agree Oliver, at times they can be really good, this one wasn’t quite as sweet but still nice but of course they have a lot more flesh than the regular purple ones

Nice tasting, Brett! I really enjoyed the sweet granadilla I had from Borough Market back in February. It's definitely one I would get again 👍

They actually do often have sweet granadilla at my local corner shop, and a bit cheaper than Borough but to be fair I normally just get regular passion fruit from the supermarket when I fancy something a bit tangy. I’m wondering if I might even get a maypop fruit this year but it may well be too cold and wet 🙄. Did you order one from agroforestry by the way ?

@@lyonheart84 No I didn't. It was bad timing as I was just about to go away to Spain. I was hoping I might have been able to order one while I was there for it to come I'm time for coming back, but of course, they sold out. I do have some maypop seeds that I still need to sow lol 😂

@PeterEntwistle lol they'll have some again next year but if you snooze you lose haha. Perhaps you should sow the seeds now ? If they germinate within 2 to 3 weeks they are one of the faster growing passion flowers because of their seasonal growing habit so I reckon they could grow 50cm by the end of September, then overwinter for the first winter in a pot in the greenhouse.

I've never been a fan of rose apples. The flavour is too delicate for my palette. Iam interested in trying a sapodilla, not had one of those before. Thanks for the tasting video.

I’m amazed you haven’t searched out a sapodilla here 😂. I like the crisp freshness of wax apples , they aren’t really a fruit for ‘strong’ flavours 😁

I've seen sapodillas locally once or twice, otherwise you'll have to make the trip up to Borough 😉

They are a nice occasional treat Mike although due to circumstances beyond my control I did have to leave these until they had gone well past their best 😱🤪

3 very nice fruit. Still considered rare in the UK because most will never have tried them. I do think a Sapodilla has a brown sugar taste but don't think that's the primary taste. I sometimes think the taste like a cup of tea, but I've never heard anyone else describe this flavour profile so maybe that's just me. lol

Lol no you are probably right Dom, I just think most people see the colour and recall what most other people say about the flavour and then psychologically imagine the same 😁

That Sapodilla looked nice and ripe Brett. I recently bought 3 wax jambu for £3.99, i had never tried one before, so i thought it would be interesting. There were 3 in a polystyrene tray covered with clingfilm, but also each fruit had a pink spongy protective covering so i couldn't see the fruit. Got them home, set up the camera 📷 and opened the package. Each one was horribly rotten! One had a small area that seemed ok, so i tried a piece of it. I thought it had an apple like texture and a floral sort of apple taste to it. But overall impression, was not as flavoursome as i had hoped for. I abandoned the video as it didn't seem worth showing.

It’s frustrating when you can’t physically see the fruit and then that happens ! A disappointment. They are not flavoursome in my opinion, they are very delicate in flavour, almost bland and they do have that crispy texture to them. I quite like them for that crispy, watery, refreshing zing to them but too rare and too expensive to buy regularly
