How to Make Hibiscus Juice | Refreshing Hibiscus drink Recipe
To make Hibiscus Juice, also known as Sorrel Drink, you'll need dried hibiscus (sorrel), sugar, and spices(if you like cinnamon sticks, allspice berries, and cloves) Recipes vary, but generally, you'll steep the dried hibiscus in hot water or boil for 10-15 minutes, then sweeten to taste with sugar or a sweetener of your choice. Once brewed and sweetened, strain the mixture and chill it before serving over ice. It's a refreshing beverage enjoyed in many cultures, particularly in the Caribbean and parts of Africa, often served during festive occasions or as a cooling drink in hot weather.
🥣Ingredients:
Hibiscus dried flower(jamaican) - 50gram
Water 6-7 cups
Sugar - 1/2 cup or use any sweetener
Optional: cinnamon, cloves, lemon zest etc for additional flavor
Lemon or mint for garnishing
Making hibiscus juice, also known as hibiscus tea or agua de Jamaica, is a simple process that yields a refreshing and flavorful beverage. To begin, you'll need dried hibiscus flowers, which can be found at most health food stores or online. Start by rinsing the flowers thoroughly to remove any debris or dirt.
Next, bring water to a boil in a large saucepan or pot. Once the water is boiling, add the dried hibiscus flowers to the pot. You can also add additional flavorings such as fresh ginger, cinnamon, or citrus zest at this stage for added depth of flavor.
Allow the hibiscus flowers to steep in the boiling water for about 15 minutes, or until the water takes on a deep red color and the flowers have softened. After steeping, remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
Once cooled, strain the hibiscus mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the solids, leaving behind the liquid. You can sweeten the juice to taste with sugar, honey, or agave syrup if desired, stirring until the sweetener is fully dissolved.
Transfer the hibiscus juice to a pitcher or glass bottles and refrigerate until chilled. Serve the juice over ice with a garnish of fresh mint or citrus slices for a refreshing and vibrant beverage.
