This tropical mix is ironically named after the sea. Ironically because the base pigments that it is made of are two of the more hydrophobic pigments one can work with; Phthalo Blue green shade PB15:3 and Phthalo Green blue shade PG7. Fully rejecting water if I were to give them a choice.
To temper the fierce characteristics of those pigments, they are mixed with something that is as far away as a thing can be from the dynamics of the vast flowing sea; its origin is solid marble. The pigment form is PW18. Counteracting both the hydrophobic natures as well as the deep dark mass tone the pure pigments have.
PW18 is often used as a base for lake pigments or as an extender and filler in commercial paints. In both cases without any mention of the use on the label. As it isn’t required to mention the use of those.
