I had two hours between work meetings to squeeze in some time on the river.
I opted to keep things simple and take a roving approach - trotting red and white maggots with a stick float.
I was fishing a stretch of the River Blackwater in Hampshire. I'd not fished it much so I wasn't sure what to expect - but isn't that what makes fishing so good?
I knew the river had previously produced some nice Dace, Barbel and Chub. And on a previous visit, I had caught some decent Perch and some whopping Gudgeon.
