EDIT: A lot of people have been very harsh on the last rider for not letting go of the reins and for the incident itself. I went back and found the source and the rider posted an explanation: After the last jump the horse bolted and the rider was assuming the arena wall would cause the horse to pull up, and obviously it did not. She did not let go of the reins as she says the horse would have escaped the arena (you can see the outgate at the very start of the clip), and he sustained no injuries to his mouth. As equestrians, we’ve all been there, please be kind ❤

It is difficult to explain to non- horse people with little or no knowledge of horses/riding, just how athletically technical this sport is...and in dealing with being physically connected to an equine partner with its' own personality and sometimes its' own agenda (unique from any other sport)... sometimes sh__ happens. The only thing we truly ask for is to walk away to ride again. We analyze our errors in order to not make the same mistakes in the future. Thank the "riding angels" that all came out of these safe to do just that. 🐎🥰🐴❤️ BTW I think...(lol) not appropriate comment - these incidents take extreme concentration to try to regain safety because we know just how dangerous these can be and what can go wrong if we as riders can not regain composure.

I think a lot of people attacking the last rider must not ride very much. I do a lot of aggressive riding in the mountains, and hunter jumper riding. You never let go of the reins in an open space. If you let go of the reins you could seriously kill or injure your horse, another rider and/or possibly several horses and riders. Don’t let go. The arena she was riding in was open, she was 100% correct to not let go of the reins.

I remember this one time my lesson horse, an off track thoroughbred, decided to be cheeky and took off with me on board. I lost my stirrup and was hanging on for dear life while he was having the time of his life. Then he made a beeline for the small fence we were practicing with and veered before stopping dead in his tracks. I half fell, half slid off and landed on my feet while homie just casually walked away. He was good horse and he never pulled a stunt like that again. I was a new rider so I guess he was just seeing what he could get away with lol.

I Ride western horses but don't do the sport i wanna do jumping but and im eleven ^^ i know alot about different sports but a few things I know about jumping (what i want to do) falling off is apart of all sports,horses refusing the jump is apart of training and practice, horses knocking down poles is ok!, lean forward when ur horses are jumping,never use ur crop for bad ! Don't abuse ur horse,don't ever blame ur big furry horse friend
@malinbergvall
Жыл бұрын
Horses refusing a jump does happen, but it's an effect of bad preparation. Either the horse wasn't properly prepared or motivated for the task, or the rider failed to give the horse a correct approach. And if you get repeated stops it's usually because something made the horse lose confidence.

When I was riding Diego, one of my aunts horses, he began bucking a ton. My little sister, who'd taken off running on an older horse that wouldn't buck, was riding my horses buddy I guess you could say. I had stopped Diego for a moment to ask my aunt something. He started walking and I'd pulling back a bit, though he didn't listen and just started cantering across the field to my sister, then began to buck because I didn't have a good grip on the reins. I learned a lot from that! :') I now know how to handle such situations and I'm a lot more careful about holding the reins really well. It's terrifying to have a horse buck on you, especially when it's out of the blue and repeated. Diego is a good horse though, he's just stubborn about listening some times. It's a reflex sometimes to not let go of the reins - a loose horse is scary.

Why 💀

@@ToasteredBread the last one had it’s mouth practically ripped out by her holding onto the reins while falling, and she tried to jump him over something not soposed to jump over, and he couldn’t jump over. all the other clips are fine, besides for the man blocking off the horses airway for a split second, but, that is just your first reaction i guess.

@@sherIfpawzShe was not trying to jump him, she was trying to stop him. Look at the pinned comment people. That horse wasn’t breathing - they don’t breath while rearing, so him momentarily holding onto the throat was much better than yanking on the face and pulling them into flipping over.
