Glad you’re back, missed your videos, a channel that actually gets things done right. You definitely deserve the deal you got on this RV with just the electrical alone. Your talent pays off in so many ways, great working partnership with Angela and the boys, love to watch your videos. One thing I don’t like to see, are others using your old videos, after all the hard work you’ve done over the years, is this how it goes when you change your channel name? Just wondering.

Good work on the circuit tracing, Sam. I have a method that might be something for you to consider in the future. I bought a 100' spool of #16 gauge yellow stranded wire to use when tracing circuit conductors. I attach the conductor that I am tracing to the yellow wire at the one end. Then, I take my continuity tester (voltmeter switched to the continuity "ring" setting and attach one end to the yellow wire and I touch all the questionable conductors one at a time until I get the ringing tone. I learned to do this in my power utility career when tracing and confirming new electric substation control wires in 12 and 25 wire cables. Dale

The cheapie little tone generator setup I use (it's about the cheapest you can get, but it DOES work fine) has a warbling tone you absolutely cannot mistake when you hit it (it cycles high/low over and over). I'd hoped the more expensive Klein did also, but it appears not. It'd make it MUCH easier to not have false positives. We used to call these fox & hounds back in the late 80's, early 90's when I was an installer (probably ran 100's of miles of RG62 for Arcnet, then in later years 1000's of miles worth of Cat-3/5/6). I can't tell you how many tone generation boxes we left in ceilings and/or walls over the years, LOL.

Very well done finding the shorted cable! It’s a shame you didn’t remove it and see where it got damaged. Most likely a screw. So, as you found out, the noise maker is ok, but continuity test is more reliable. As a retired electrical design engineer, I do have a couple comments. Those receptacles are junk and prone to conductors popping out because of installers in a big hurry and not doing them correctly. Now for the important one. Breakers are only guaranteed to operate once due to a short circuit. A short circuit can cause damage to the mechanism inside. I suggest you replace it when you can. Always be safe! The life you save may just be your own.
@somdhomestead9031

Great it's fixed. one thing In noticed is that the wire was solid strand. Probably not good since a motorhome is dynamic and twists and turns. Aircraft and Boats we use stranded wire to allow for flexing. Solid strand wire will break over time.

If it’s like our frig it seems to take 24 hours to actually get cold. At first I thought it wasn’t working but the RV was new so I thought it should work. it just takes awhile until you stick your hand in and you start feeling the coolness. At least that is how ours is.

RVs are such a "joy" to work on. I installed a surge protector on the incoming line. It was like rebuilding an engine through the exhaust pipe. Wiring must have to be installed before any panels go in w/o any regard to later maintenance. 😡

Please consider adding a mini split ac system to the RV. I've seen a couple of videos on it on You Tube and it's more quite than the ceiling ac.
