Really liking these lake vids Tom! Something about the open water, variety of species and chance of large fish makes for good viewing.

Great video and session Tom. Loved fishing Purrumbete the one time I went there - fished it on a warm and sunny afternoon, and landed a 8lb 4 oz brown monster on a smelt pattern - we didnt get anything else over the next few days. Didn't know there was Chinook in there - these days fish for Chinooks regularly a long way from home.

Tom this is a really excellent video that is moving me towards some Lake Fishing. You mentioned the Coral Streamer in the video. Can you direct me to the materials used to tie the fly. I am fishing a very muddy lake at the moment and i think it would do the job.

Excellent vid. Would love to fish that place, unfortunatley if i am to fish the lakes etc for large fish it would have to be from the bank as i do not have a boat. i do not normally fish lures ( Streamers) for trout, how do they respond to buzzers etc.

What was the thinking behind the sweep line? I never know when to choose them over a regular di5 or whatever

I like the versatility of them, it doesn’t sink as fast as a density compensated line. It’s a personal preference thing ultimately though

Great vid. Is it worthwhile fishing from the bank, in winter, there?

Yeah definitely now that the water is up, the points are good and the eastern shoreline is nice an accessible

Why do use a 10ft rod rather a usual 9ft fly rod?

A few reasons, you can manage longer leaders/greater distance between flies, better control at the hang and you have a longer leaver so can cast further
