First time I've ever fished with shrimp was this year on the ice. Was running out of wax worms and someone walking off the ice offered me what he had left and I was impressed on how they did. Would buy some and use again

Super cool study. I've done the same and Nightcrawlers won handily. Very dependent on Lake, conditions, depth, fishes personality, ecology ect.

Ok, just returned from my and my friends first trip. Using the shrimp tipped with earthworm on 1/32”oz jig heads. We caught our first fish in about 10 minutes. 19-1/2” rainbow! We ended up keeping 5 most were 18” released 1. We used the Garmin Striker Cast and it worked amazing. We had a group that was cheering us on every time we landed a fish. The group was not having any success so I walked a handful of shrimp over to them and they caught their first fish on the shrimp in less than 5 minutes! I told them to check out your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 🤙🏼

This is great info. Thanks for the video next time can you show us tile or tricks to put it in the hook. I’ve seen a few different variations especially if your trying to fish them with jig heads.

In the past we used shrimp for kokanee fishing that way in the spring. Lake shannon by baker lake. Live maggot and a salmon egg also worked.

Add smelly jelly Garlic gel not the liquid bottle the small plastic jar stuff makes nightcrawler more appealing for stocked trout. Slayed them from cali to idaho. Everywhere i go seems to get em. Mych love and respect Brother..

I've been running shrimp for years. I usually top it off with either corn or an egg. I have left the worms at home now for years. Just for reference I usually icefish for trout 20+ days a year in multiple bodies of water.

Shrimp vs corn. I think it'll be even. Have you shrimp to catch perch, and a variety of sunfish. I also use it to tip some jigs for scent.

Here in Northern California we have Eagle Lake (this is the original lake that the Eagle Lake strain of rainbow's came from) and they have a variety of shrimp that live in the lake that is one of the prey the fish live on. In fact if you look on a map of the lake an area is called Shrimp Island so maybe that's why your shrimp was the best bait maybe your lake has fresh water shrimp in it as well.

Do some exotic baits next. I've always wondered if something like squid or clam meat would work. We don't have to many squids or clams in Montana so neither me or the fish get the chance to try it out very often. The biggest rainbows I ever pulled through the ice was on Shrimp 💪

@@spiltmilt No, Power Bait Honey Worms are sold in a Jar. Size and shape roughly like a meal worm. Comes in green and yellow. I mostly use them on a bobber with a tiny egg hook and also tip lures with them at times. They do not float. I usually can only find them at Cabelas.
