Just a little evening kayak fishing for trout in a small lake. I needed to christen my new kayak (it’s an Old Town Sportsman PDL 120) so we held a very serious ceremony and then hit the water to catch some rainbow trout. Only ended up fishing for a little over an hour before sunset but it was a super fun trip and the trout were mostly cooperative. It was a mix of trolling and casting from the kayak.
Lures of choice for the day were Rapala, Kastmaster, and Rooster Tail (links below if you’re curious about the specifics). No bait or scent. The Kastmaster is probably my most reliable (and versatile since it trolls and casts nicely) lure for trout in small-medium sized lakes but all three catch fish regularly. 💬 Let me know what’s your favorite/most productive trout lure?
