First off, those white rings you see are not seals, and are not cracks but a split backup ring for the oring. Next you should never take apart the pressure relief valve spring as it is set from the factory, you most likely won't have a pressure gauge to attach to the pressure side of the pump to dial it back to factory specs. But love to watch with 30 years as a heavy equipment and crane mechanic.

@52:50 don't leave it idle more than 30 sec or the pump will overheat. also if you turn the pressure release down too far it will overwork the engine and bog it down

I also could not get that drain plug out. I even tried using vice grips and the alien wrench at the same time. Gave up on that and if you remove the 3 alen bolts under the valve body, the housing will split apart thanks to the 3 springs under tention and all the oil will go everywhere. That was a fun and very messy suprise.

My pump started leaking, I have replaced it in the past on this troybilt, the kit is now $66 on Amazon, usually have to replace at least one stripped bolt, after extracting it, not sure what it would cost at a shop ? , which I have not checked out yet, was not a bad project to do, but looking in my manual did not see what engine oil to use , is it the same oil that you use in my home lawn mower usually ? my troybilt I have had since 2008, the 01903 model, I have to be honest with you other than putting in the pump kit, I have not done the other maintenance on it , like oil changes, maybe one pump oil change, but always starts after the pump kit, I borrowed my sons newer model Honda GC 190, to finish up my work, and found out it eats up the gas, vs mine , I still like my old pressure washer, knock on wood 👍😀, any suggestions would be great 👍

Hello I have the same exact unit.. but my operators manual says that the Pressure washer unit does not need oil for the life of the unit as it is sealed... I too have an issue where it reaches heavy pressurized out put.. then trickles.. then builds up again... i will keep you posted

I did a little research prior to working on this one and many people report problems with the pressure regulator. That's the piece you remove the by removing the square retainer.

Now i was recommended to change the oil in my unit (exact same one). But have not been able to find what oil it takes. It was recommended by my friend who is and has been an engine (small/large) mechanic for 30 plus years. The condition of the oil is absolutely nasty.
