Funny thing about getting lost in the Skidder, you can always backtrack! Skidder tracks on a paved road, easy to spot! 😂

Why not chain up?? Only takes ten min to throw two sets of chains on. And 5 min to take them off. All trucks have chains here in Maine. For situations like this. I would think it would be a no brainer. Love your videos bud!! My dad ran a chip plant for years here in Maine. Paper chips for Boise cascade. I will look for some pictures of the old chip plant. The debarker was awesome. They purchased a new one in the early 90s from Vancouver British Columbia. Have a great SAFE day everybody!!!!!

As for one living in Norway, this is very odd. Trucks here has to have 9x chains for 5axle truck and 3 axle trailer. 9mm spiked snow chain is what everyone use. Chain for front tier have a zig zag patter, so it doesn’t bumps to bad. Ofc, speed it limited, but on those roads there , a single on each side same axel wild be plenty. And u can keep a good speed. Think it’s hilarious how many axles ur Riggs have, but still can’t gross that much. Our heavy hauler have 9axles. Can legally way 140mt. But our normal loads r 75-90mt total weight. kzitem.info/news/bejne/tqRtt5afnGKmoI4si=xVVBTJ9xwu0HHb4m

Well, said it in last video, I’ll say it again. Chains. 15 minutes, problem solved. Should be a set hangin on every truck in my opinion for this business. Standard round here, be hard pressed to find a woods truck without them.....

I grew up in Maine and I don't remember seeing a logging/chip truck that didn't have tire chains hanging off it. If it was in the woods at all chains were pretty much a necessity.

But what you don’t understand sir is chains are against the law in Michigan Roads so they would have to chain up going in the woods then unchain coming out of the woods so now does that make sense sir.

@@Diddley-js6lf Yes, that is the way it's done everywhere. Sort of like a vaccination. He is not the only person on the road. When he spins out it affects everyone else. Just the cost of doing business

I ran chip van for years and many 8 axle trailers and can promise you that if you can lock that last axle down on the wagon it will give you the weight need on the drive axles to get around in those conditions.

Sand is the way to go. Dirt freezes and has little traction. No chains allowed on public roads in MI. Off road we use them every trip in the winter. I drive Indian River avg 134” of snow per year.

For the 10 to 15 mins it would have taken the driver to throw a set of triples on, if he had chains on the truck, you wouldn't have had all those problems. We have a law here in BC , that any vehicle with GVW over 11,700 KGS MUST carry STEEL chains from end of October to end of April. Most of us carry them longer because of unexpected storms in the mountains. How much more hassle would you have had if that truck had slid back and slid over the side.
