But then again, i was born & raised in the old school way, with old school trucks, & learning how to make room on both inside & outside turns. I was delivering on Main street in Brooklyn a couple weeks ago, that turn at the end of Main street onto Plymouth street was a nice challenge with all the parked cars and delivery trucks there, specially for a rookie like myself! I eventually had to get the entire truck on the sidewalk to make the corner because the food vendor on the corner refused to move his stand. People were filming too, but I never found the video :( This guy though should have taken all 3 lanes to turn, would've made it easier for him.

He should have been there n the left lane I can’t really see over there but I’ve been in downtown areas where ima take as many lanes as I need to make the turn because you have too

Had to negotiate some tight turns up there recently, not as tight as this one but, yeah. You get the experience and confidence when you make them clean

If anything he should have went further out to turn that rig, eliminating the close distance between the trailer and the pole.

Looks like he did a damn fine job to me. I drive fuel trucks in North Jersey. Some tight turns, but it’s a tanker, not a 53 footer. And explain, what do you mean by “if anything”?

I agree. He hopped the curb a bit, so he could've stood to swing out a little wider before beginning to crank back to the right

I pull a 39 feet fifth wheel camper with my pickup truck, it’s not near as bad as this, but I know the feeling, I ALWAYS back up my car to give truckers and school bus drivers a chance to make their life less stressful, and they ALWAYS thank me, because they acknowledge you care for them.

I think he could've gone past the intersection he wanted to turn at, and then make 3 left turns to place himself on the street and direction he wanted to go. It might've taken longer, but at least he'd more likely have proper clearance for the turns.
@nethacker91
7 жыл бұрын
So 3 extra left turns that might be just as problematic.
@BadDriversOfNapa

No, because left turns are wider and clearance wouldn't be the issue it is for right turns.

I wouldn't say all cities are perfect grids, but NY is one of the best (if not, THE best) for a grid layout. Boston is the worst.

@@nethacker91 I tried that 3 left turn plan in Chicago once. Big mistake. Best to just combine a buttonhook and jughandle turn and hog up the intersection real estate. The people behind you will get over it and cops will understand.

you can't always do that, some of those streets are one-way's, or no truck or have idiots double parked. All he needed was to swing in the 3rd lane and watch for retards trying to pass him on the right as he turned.

The United States is in serious need of Infrastructure Improvements The United States is falling further and further behind in Infrastructure Advancements compared to China, Korea, Japan , and even Russia. The United States is looking like a Third World Country ... Where does your toll booth money goes? ...Where does your property taxes go ? ... It's certainty not being emphasized in building up America's decrepit and rusting infrastructures that's for sure :(
