Honest question: as a CDL holder, would you rather drive for $100 a day while figuring things out or stay at the house and figure things out? People with specialized licensing say that type of stuff all the time: "I aint getting out of bed for X dollars" which I dont get. No ones saying turn down a better paying opportunity for a lower paying one. At the same time though you shouldnt be afraid to humble yourself to do what you gotta do. People act like a soecialized license makes you God. If you're not in Forbes, get off the high horse and handle your s$!&

Even if we would ignore all the lying the defendant did, he made totally clear in one sentence (while talking to Doug in the hallway) that he is the Absolute Employer From Hell!! And showed who he REALLY IS, when he said: ”It wasn’t so much the payment, it was just being, you know, he (meaning the plaintiff) was very sneaky about things and I GOT UPSET ABOUT IT. So that’s what happened.” So he actually admitted that he, being an employer with all the responsibilities that go with that role, is SO immature as well as SO negligent and SO easily willing to break the law (!), that he simply REFUSES to pay an employee if ‘he gets UPSET’ about something! I’m glad that in this case the name of both the employer (Harry Waiser) and the company (AGW Logistics LLC) were mentioned, so EVERY FUTURE employee, that might be considering working for this guy, is able to find this video online and is WARNED UPFRONT to NOT (!!!) take any position in this company!! At least… not if they wish to be PAID FOR THEIR WORK!!

@@jennifermarlow. . If you think I would believe a single word of this man’s excuses for not paying his employers, think again. What I highlighted is, that the defendant is just a POS who uses ANY excuse to not pay up and that the ludicrousness of this ‘reason’ of being ‘upset’ was a clear indication of that, since that ‘reason/excuse’ showed the opposite of what he THOUGHT it would mean….. I’m sorry that my sarcasm went a little over your head here, although I also realize that that could be due to some of the nuance in my words getting lost in translation, since English isn’t my native language. But as I seriously doubt that you’d be capable of understanding Dutch, I decided, thoughtful as I am, to take that extra step for you, as well as for any other American (*) and use my own multilingualism to compensate for your nation’s lack of language education. (*) It is always amusing to see how Americans don’t seem to realize that the majority of people on these social media sites are NOT English speaking. In fact, the infamous American arrogance is SO enormous, that many of US citizens can’t even seem to understand that the USA is NOT the only country on this little planet and that theirs is merely one of 196 (**) countries. (**) plus Palestine and Vatican City; that are factually not a ‘country’, but their specific form of independence is recognized through their ‘observer status’ at the UN, just to be completely thorough here)

That defendant is a slimeball. You can tell that he probably has done this to other workers. That's why he looks for guys on Craigslist (first red flag before he even opened his mouth). He probably figures that he can abuse guys who respond to the Craigslist ad...because some may be down on their luck and have fewer options elsewhere. Over the road drivers don't load or unload the trucks..the shippers and receivers typically do that. So with the exception of a crash situation...they aren't responsible for missing items, damaged goods, or the trucks being overweight. These are common problems that shippers try to stick drivers with.

The Defendant is a liar. First he said “he didn’t do any work for me”. Then he said “he was supposed to do unpaid training”. Then, suddenly, his story changes, and it’s “boxes were damaged and he got lost”. Well, if he didn’t do any work, then how did boxes get damages and he got lost with your truck? And if he was just supposed to be doing training, why wasn’t another driver in the truck with him to train him. Clearly, the Defendant is a con artist, a liar, and a thief who hired someone he thought he could fool, and luckily the plaintiff was smart enough to file suit. The Defendant probably does this all the time to people he thinks he can get over on. Sad.

To the point where they struggle between getting enough sleep in order to drive safely, getting time to eat, and driving enough to make it on time. Sometimes the road is pretty dangerous too.

I'll give the defendant credit for showing up and trying, but it doesn't matter. You have to pay the employee, even if they do a crappy job. If they do a crappy job, you fire them. That's it.
