Funny. I think it should be illegal to allow drivers a license who can't back into a facility like this. This is asking the world to change in a world that is ever changing.. There will never be a lack of different challenges in this line of work. If you can't adapt you're in the wrong job....

in my opinion he waited way too long to get a gap in traffic. I would have created the gap earlier. I would have backed it up more, then pull out when there was a gap, and then when there is a gap from the oncoming traffic i would pull it into that gap and just block the entire road immediately. Obviously in a safe manner, indicating to everyone what i am doing. But, i am big enough for cars to stop, and even trucks seem to stop when i do it. The only thing is: Make sure you set up correctly the first time. So you can push it in nicely and dont have to pull it up multiple times. Because then it becomes embarrassing. Anyways, me, dutch in the Netherlands, and when i know where i have to be, i drive towards it, slow down before i am where i should be to aim for a gap in oncoming traffic, and once the gap is there i make sure i am almost at the spot i should be. So i then can do the maneuvre, and i care not for what is behind. Im gonna block the street, simple. Parking beside the road and letting everyone go through is more dangerous. But yeah, as the rest said: Everyone who is able to drive a car reasonably safe can do this. It takes some practice, but after a bit of that it is like riding a bike.

Very impressive. I drove for four years. There was an EXTREMELY tight dock that I would sometimes have to back into in Toledo, Ohio at Acklin Stamping. Not only was it tight, but you had to blindside back into it at a 45 degree angle in traffic. It was so tough, man. Once in the dock, your truck would only be like 5 feet from still being in the road. Luckily people were very patient with me most of the time. 1925 Nebraska Ave Toledo Ohio. I still have nightmares of putting a trailer in there when there was only one empty dock. 😂

I've been to Chicago and all kinds of places I have had two back in the places like those indoor docks before. It was a rotation, I never seen it go so smoothly before.

I deliver for 84 lumber but I drive the flatbed Cummings ram with a front to back front and side enclosed rack. I've had 40 foot lvls on there. The full rack is only 22 feet lol. Illegal but they never say anything to me even though I'm technically commercial. They are focused on our pig trucks. I have road around with them and helped on slow days and hell no lol I like my size truck. No dump but most places are new construction so I back up and hit the brakes and let it tip off and drove out from underneath. I like it dropping stuff off the top in between tight loads and steer the truck left or right to straighten it not to hit anything. Best job I've had. Out on my own just go back and forth til the day is done.
