Welcome everyone to another Karteado with K video! Today, we're going to explore the fascinating world of Truco Paulista, an exciting card game full of strategies. So, get ready to dive into this universe of tricks and manilhas.
Truco Paulista is played with a common deck of 52 cards, excluding jokers and cards 8, 9 and 10 of all suits. This is the so-called "dirty deck", made up of just 40 cards. These cards are divided into manila cards, which are the most valuable, and simple cards.
Before we get into the detailed rules, let's understand the order of values of simple cards. The strongest is the three, followed by the 2 and the Ace. Then, we have the King, Jack and Queen figures. It is important to note that, unlike most card games, in Truco, the Jack is worth more than the Queen. Lastly, we have cards numbered 7 to 4, with 4 being the weakest card in the game.
Unlike simple cards, manilhas are the most powerful cards in Truco Paulista. They are determined by lottery before each time. The drawn card, which remains open and out of play, defines the value of the shackles for the round. For example, if the number 2 is drawn, the shackles will be the four cards with the value three.
The shackles have a specific order of power, the suit of clubs is the most powerful, followed by the suits of hearts, spades and diamonds.
In a game of Truco Paulista, four players form two pairs, and the partners sit in alternating positions. The objective of the game is to reach 12 points first to win.
Points are earned through rounds, called hands. A hand consists of deciding the best of three games, called tricks. Each player is dealt three cards in each trick and chooses one to discard. Whoever discards the card with the highest value wins the trick. Winning two of the three tricks guarantees the corresponding hand and points.
The score depends on the bets made during the hand. A no bet hand is worth one point, a cheated hand is worth 3 points, a cheated hand is worth 6 points, and a cheated hand is worth 9 points. Whoever reaches 12 points first wins the game.
Now, let's see how a hand works. The dealer shuffles the cards, and the player to his left cuts the deck. The dealer deals three cards to each player and turns over one card to set the shackles. The first trick begins with the player to the dealer's right, and thus the strategy and betting unfold.
I hope you're excited to dive into Truco Paulista! Leave your likes, comments and share with your trickster friends. Until the next hand!
