I had the theme song in my wedding. We walked back up the aisle to it.

My wife walked down the aisle to the True Romance theme 🥰 I was 20 when I saw the film (3 times) at the cinema, like you I catch some scenes when I stumble on to it on tv. Haven’t seen it in years, may have to watch it this weekend 😆

In the early 90’s I caught this on cable and I was absolutely transfixed and blown away. I loved it instantly and yes I am gen x and yes it was a youthful males fever dream. Save your girl and be a hero. It still holds up. So many unique and memorable characters.

Totally agree! It was fun to go back and rewatch. The chemistry between all the actors still blows me away (as does the filmmaking and script).

I never put this film down. It's far too funny. My favourite Tony Scott film and the best Tarantino related project IMO.

All time top 10 movie (maybe top 12)

Absolutely, this is a Gen-X film, I feel this is our Easy Rider, or Rebel Without a Cause, or Saturday Night Fever. Fight Club and True Romance would be a good Gen-X Double Bill.

Love pairing those two films together (Fight Club & True Romance).

Being a few years older than you I put it down almost right after watching. It was just too similar to natural born killers and then pulp fiction just blew it away.

The movie definitely does encapsulate the heroe's raised by the television doing whatever we want feeling of gen X, my son can't believe some of the things I tell him that I did with no one around and that's not a dig at the parents of the day that's just how everyone was! There are definitely some great scenes though, Walken/Hopper. I was a big Gary Oldman fan after Dracula but I really didn't like him as that pimp. It was bad cultural appropriation before I had any idea what that meant it just never sat right with me.

Yeah, the Oldman casting always weirded me out. It is kinda insane when you think of it. But there was a lot of weird in the early 90s and I just took it in stride I guess.
