I know each gun/load/choke may perform differently, but it should give a good starting point. Hope it helps folks out and narrows down the choices (and expenses).

Hey Chris great video I like that single shot Shotgun. When I load my shotgun I shoot a #6 and two #4's behind it .I talk to Tom Stuckey at the Turkey convention in Nashville many years ago he told me to load a #6 and back it with two #4's .The 6 will take out the head and the 4's will break bones ! That's the way I've been loading for many years and it works good for me in my 20ga . But the TSS loads is the way to go!! Great video enjoy !!

I loaded very similar last year and will this year too. This year, the shell in the chamber is the old Federal 3rd degree, and the two in the mag are the old Federal Heavyweight #6. Those two loads are discontinued with Federal going to TSS, but I love them and have a few boxes of each left. I am out of the old #7 Heavyweight(my favorite) and can't find them.

Good video and test. Federal heavyweight #7 was als my favorite load. I have a few #6 heavyweight left also. I used Longbeard #6 to kill a few turkeys with my truglo choke in my Mossberg 500 Bantam. Great combo for me, this little 20 gauge is my go to Turkey killer, light ,fast and short! Keep up the great testing, just reinforces my own findings.

I’ve got the truglo gobble stopper as well and it didn’t impress me much, It appears that my mossberg 20ga just doesn’t like it and they don’t work well together even longbeard XR wasn’t grouping too good lol

Just curious what you favorite load and choke is in your 500 bantam. I got one a few weeks ago and need to get it set up. I know combo might not be the same in mine but it might get me close.

I see I’m not the only one who likes to pay attention to the back of the cardboard. Personally with the turkey head targets I tend to get more caught up only looking at the pellets in the vitals and not what the whole pattern is doing.

I wanna see the vital hits, but also the whole pattern. The specific number of vital hits will change shot to shot, but if its a consistent, fairly even pattern, those vital hit numbers will stay high.

@@RegularGuysOutdoors I ate the vital hits count in killing but I sometimes forget that I can do things to move the pattern to where I’m getting more vital hits and I’ll rule out a choke or load because it didn’t do what I wanted it to first shot. So a lot of times I’ll look and the vital hits and then flip the target over to see if the pattern is uniform enough or worth adjusting to get my shot centered. I didn’t explain that very well.

The reason the Hornady shells don't pattern well is because they suck.

They’ve always made great chokes . I had one a few years back & the threads got damaged on it or I would still be using it today

I also have their SSX choke, and while it is goofy looking and sticks out about three inches, it has shot some great patterns.
