Burton is one of those guys that always leaves me wondering what could've have been. I always get the feeling that he would've made an incredible "elder statesman" of rock.

Thomas W no kidding. I’d imagine he’d be as close of a brother to James as you could get. A John Entwistle to younger bassists to be. Fair bet he’d had beef up like James did 1987-1991 and would be a crazy ass beast. If that member from Anthrax was right about Cliff James and Kirk planning on kicking Lars from the band after the Damage tour I wouldn’t be surprised that they would have made Groove Metal style stuff before it occurred.

I met cliff after a gig during the damage tour everybody ran towards James and Lara and I went over to Cliff and spoke to him for half hour about a mutual admiration for the Misfits a lovely human being, my friend took a pic of us talking I was only 16 I’m 47 now and Metallica are still my favourite band

Every time I think of people talking about or my own thoughts on what Cliff would’ve looked alive after 1986, I keep thinking of the Monsters of Rock concert on the airfield in Moscow 1991. I mean the menacing look of James and seeing that reflected on Cliff’s more frail shape when they were still kids in 1984-6. Just seeing James who already is a tall and intimidating figure next to a guy who’s taller than him with the bass blasting 1.5 million people with the power of freedom like Lemmy did. To say the least if they hired somebody like Dave Lombardo their material would’ve been nuts in terms of metal insanity... And Justice for an bygone Thrash Metal 90s for Metallica.

According to Cliff's Dad Ray, he spoke about her at Cliff Burton Day when someone asked, he said she was close with the family for awhile after his death, then moved to Chicago without even saying goodbye to them. He said Jan, Cliff's Mom was really shocked & heartbroken. Apparently she was married for awhile. No further information than that. Also Connie is Cliff's sister. Corinne was his girlfriend. Cliff is also one of my Spirit Guides, we're really plugged in to one another, so I know over the years he's checked in on Corinne. He still keeps an eye out for many of those he left behind. ❤
