TRUMP: "There is now a statement from the very top!" This is what the Kremlin says about the assassination
The Kremlin has condemned any kind of violence in politics following the attempted assassination of former US President Donald Trump. The spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said on Sunday that the Kremlin condemns violence as a means of political conflict "in the strongest possible terms".
Peskov added that there had been "numerous" attempts to remove Trump from the political stage before. After "legal means" such as "courts, prosecutors and attempts at political discrediting" had been used, it is now clear to all observers "that his life is in danger," Peskov said. However, the Kremlin does not believe that the assassination attempt was "organized" by the "current" US government.
Trump was shot at a campaign rally in the US state of Pennsylvania on Saturday. The likely Republican presidential candidate suffered a minor injury to his ear. In addition to the suspected shooter, a spectator was also killed and two others were seriously injured, according to official reports.
