Thanks I was surprised how long it took to decide what to do with this one, but in the end I think it worked out nicely. Definitely a tree my dad will be updating on next summer

Very wise decisions made for this tree's future Tony. I enjoyed watching that new leader take a more upright position. When you said you may leave it, i was horrified and i wouldn't have slept well..so cheers dad for the bend 😉

its funny like that. the more you cut back the better tree you end up with eventually(most of the time). but also sometimes you just have to leave it growing too. ikyk thanks tony and dad. love the junipers

nice raw material, love those juniper. My feeling is just tidy trim it into a triangular overall form and see where it back buds? I'm always interested to see your thinking o these though, and some of the choices you've made on other trees weren't something I'd spotted but work! That's the great think about this art form, it's like very, very slow sculpture :) That tree is lovely and healthy, that wire will be off in a year max!
@TonysBonsai
Жыл бұрын
Indeed. This tree is a classic case where 10 minutes pruning will easily make it look twice as good, but this is the time where restraint is so difficult. Anyone could go round pruning off all the dangling growth and remove any scruffy looking foliage to create a much better form but I believe that is pretty much the biggest mistake that I see people making on KZitem. I've spent 3-4 years patiently trying to keep this alive, and it now needs leaving for another year to grow on strongly It's hard to do, especially when we're trying to make something that looks good but for me the long term health of the tree has to come first.

@@TonysBonsai 100%. I learnt esp over here in early spring to smash the junipers with 16-4-8 feed and they go mad, but as you say the temptation is to clip and grow way to early!

Cheers mate. Part of the structure of my day is sitting quietly in the early hours going through reading all the comments on my videos, so perhaps without realising it, you are significantly adding to my days, so thank you. I'm sure facing such challenging times that you would find a way to carry on enjoying each day. It's strange but there is a certain freedom in the complete uncertainty surrounding the next few weeks or hopefully months that does make the experience of living life even richer

@@TonysBonsai When you really think about it Tony, that's really all any of us can do. None of us are guaranteed anything in this life. I would think it wise for anyone to adapt your attitude and style when it comes to how they look at their own future, and realize that actually none of us has the promise of tomorrow and that "now" is all any of us have.
