Hi Mike, I like your informative videos. I have a 1974 6 horse Evinrude,do you sell carburetors for this.I don't think I could rebuild it by myself. it set for 4 or five years. It will run for 3 or 4 seconds and then die.

Just ship it to me and I will rebuild and ship back to you.

Thanks for your passion, the little Johnson/evinrude’s started my love affair. Hell my online name is fastwin18! I recently out of necessity had to get a 1950 1.5 fisherman running. We were at our island cottage and had stayed to watch the ice leave. Of course I had my 65 9.5 here right? Well it was going to be a pretty long row. This 1.5 was in the shed when we bought. Cleaned points, fuel, ran. Still runs, actually quite the powerhouse! This has been a long rant to ask a question, where do we get parts for these pre 54-3 motors. I’ve got a couple older tens that need carb love etc. Another question my 65 2.5 is damn finicky, everything has been done fuel and ignition. I even pulled the head for a look. 90-95 psi cold/dry. Any thoughts? I did find silicone holding open one reed. Not me! Last cobbler I guess. Anyway sir you obviously love these treasures! Keep it up. Now the dig.. I like and recommend sticking with the dual line. Purist? Nah you could get kits from them when they were new. I’ve just had no issues at all. Two of mine are family 58’s and run orig tanks. Anyway a discussion without consensus. No wrong either way. Cheers. Jim.

@@fastwin493 awesome! Ya mercs😖. It’s shameful but I have a few. There all getting hard to find these days. Once in a while though!!! Tanks, I’ve been blessed with decent tanks and connectors. Both fastwin and Jim’s? Now are you the only one on your waterway huffing 20 to 1 smoke all about? I know I am.

@@fastwin493 can’t say I know a lot about the Scott Atwater, I did know the success and the succession to McCullough. I’ve only ever worked on a little single three, man🤔thirty years ago! I have seen interest increase the last few years. Collecting but not running, none of mine are SS models (stand sitters) I run em and put em down on their backs I’ve got three to play with right now, 58 fastwin18,58 7 1/2 seahorse and a 65 9.5. And of course what breaks which is usually the big ones playing games. You seem to be a little more than a little knowledgeable about the history and I’d love to read more! I did at one time nearly memorize The book The history of outboard motors. 1955. It was my go to for info for years. It’s been on loan to a friend for about twenty years now! Lol. Cheers. Point me in a good info direction.
