It's a rewrite history serum? OK, Smeagol never found the ring. 😅

That sounds like a terrible idea. Someone was going to find that ring and as we have three books showing is small folk are uniquely resistant to its charms due to their lack of imperial ambitions so if smeagol doesn't find it and a human or dwarf or even elf does instead they may just start a war and would almost certainly bring it back into Saurons hand. You fool you have doomed us all!

@@henrikt.183not necessarily his friend could have found it and then given it to him thus not changing anything except 1 thing

This wouldn't work because while you can retroactively change the course of events that happened, you can't change the players' memories Edit: unless the NPC drinking the serum is telling about events that the players have not witnessed, in which case the reality bending ability of the serum are irrelevant because the DM (who decides what the NPC says) is already omnipotent

I can see how you got confused on this. Allow me to try and clear things up. The syrum (essentially) changes nothing. The player *would still be telling the truth* technically, according to what the party experiences, because it was retroactively always that way. It makes whatever the party experienced true, although in cannon, they actually experienced something else entirely before the truth syrum changed that. Glad to clarify further if needed 😊
