@@boldsoul463 For me we were supposed to take notes from our textbook in cornell notes format. And for me during 6th grade I transferred to a higher history class during the second semester that did cornell notes. My previous history class did not do cornell notes, so I didn't know how to do it and just ended up copying the textbook. Got a zero on that. It wasn't until many weeks later that I actually know how to do them properly. Anyways, it ended up dragging my grade down and I wasn't doing well in history. Then there is 7th grade, where all students did cornell notes in history regardless of their history level. It was finally when someone taught me how to do cornell notes. I did better at them, but its still not the best and still dragged my grade down. Plus second semester was online school and that made it worse. Finally there's 8th grade, and we finally don't had to do cornell notes anymore. Probably the only time I actually did good in history. I still have nightmares about doing cornell notes to this day... 🥶

For history specifically (doesn't work for all subjects), I used to kind of make a flow of events and tell things like a story. I would have mini sections with funny titles and then short bits of information (main ideas, dates, names, etc.) and I'd connect them all with arrows to make the series of events cohesive. As a sophomore, I 100% recommend it. History last year was basically taking our notes using Cornell format. The teacher also let the students use any kind of note taking, but I personally kept doing the Cornell notes style because it has helped me a lot organizing my information. I also had to stick with it because of AVID(probably the reason why Cornell notes exist), because my teacher made it mandatory to have somewhere in our notes questions thta we had and a summary. Even if you are not in AVID, it's still a great way to process down your information. I personally used it a lot that by the time I was in my 2nd semester of freshman year, I was making Cornell notes without even realizing(I was also the person who made the prettiest notes so I was kind of the guy you were willing to ask for notes, which indirectly did let me know that my notes were good)
