I'm on the fence about that 2-2-2 thing but the HIIT workouts and intermittent fasting are on the money.

I know my macros is mostly carbs and protein. My fat is the smallest number. I've IF since Elementary school. I'm just not hungry first thing in the morning, but when I do wake up hungry then I eat. For me it was depression. That really packed it on because I wasn't active I just sat and ate. And it wasn't junk food it was Keto that I was eating at the time.

Looks like somebody needs to read William Li’s book. Metabolism doesn’t change between zero and 20 and 20 and 40 and 40 and 60 and 60 and 80. Every two decades it is the same. I suggest you look up his new book.

Maybe they specify the types of carbs? There’s a broad spectrum which are metabolised differently.

He lost me at claiming metabolism doesn’t slow down until your 60s. It’s common knowledge that it begins to slow down in your 30s for the vast majority of people. It’s why we have to do more and eat less to stay fit…

For my mom it slowed a touch after 60. For me oh gracious, it slowed at 35.

It is a fact that metabolism begins to slow down as early as your late teens. We all know that, as a child and a teen, you can eat just about anything you want and not gain weight. What bothers me about these shows is that they put everyone into a box - - in other words, we are all different, and what works for some people will never work for other people... I hate when these shows promise all things for everyone.

A lot of the time “common knowledge” is revised by scientific investigation over time. That’s why “common knowledge” constantly changes over decades and doesn’t remain static.

You can slow your metabolism through how you diet which has nothing to do with the natural drop by age. We also can confuse metabolism with calorie set point.

Just go WFPB! Stop measuring your food and weighing it! Please stop saying “carbs” it’s a starch! Pasta is a processed food, stick with the whole food! AKA- sweet potatoes 🍠, rice quinoa. Also, the fat you eat is the fat you wear!! 💪

I’ve been wfpb for almost 1yr, making my own bread (‘wild yeast’/sourdough starter made with flour & water at home) and I don’t eat pre-made foods (vegan burgers/chips) but once in a great while. Usually I’m too thin but these last 8yrs I’ve got excess fat around my midsection ! None of my health diagnoses contribute to this, I walk/bus everywhere, I sometimes have coffee w/sugar free plain oat milk, eat one small meal at dinner, and cannot figure out how to lose the fat! Maybe high Cortisol? Thyroid is ‘normal’.. all I can think to try next is a calorie deficit. I’m sick of this tum!! 🤬

Not true if they are starchy carbs like potatoes and rice. Read the starch solution by Dr McDougall or the Rice Diet Solution. Those are low fat lifestyles

I know this guy's a doctor that wrote a lot of books and stuff, but some of this stuff is complete BS. First, metabolism varies from person to person, and it plateaus somewhere between 20-60 before it starts declining. Second, anyone that knows anything about Keto knows you can't alternate Keto with non-Keto days because it takes a few days to get into Ketosis and the non-Keto carb loading days throws you out of Ketosis. So you'll never truly be in Ketosis unless you alternated weeks. Third, they've done studies on HIIT vs. Steady State, and they were both found to be equally effective, but HIIT comes with significantly more fatigue. Fourth, intermittent fasting studies have had mixed results. We need to see more conclusive data to know whether it works or not.

It’s not always that simple. I already under eat but I have fat in places on my body I can’t lose. And eating less and being more active doesn’t work for me. I think my body is confused and stuck because of countless diets I’ve been on.

I’m stuck & don’t know what to do! I’m 50 AFAB, and do some decent walking (no car😢, use public transit) and am mostly plant based whole foods, occasionally having goat cheese (no casein?-what makes cheese melty-my tum hates it), make my own sourdough/‘wild yeast’ breads, and limit tomatoes and acidic foods due to irritation in my upper digestive tract..endoscopy proven.. But I’m SO frustrated with my belly! I’m 5’7” and near 160lbs. I really don’t know what to do. Considering going back on keto, but keeping track using an app so I’m within my caloric goals..It’s the fat around my belly that I despise! I do have chronic pain/fatigue, scoliosis and bone spurs, & more so I have to manage my physical activity but I’ve always been too thin, entire maternal family is the same.

sigh. This is misinformation! Your metabolism cannot be stuck. If your input is more than your output obviously there'll be gain weight. The word metabolism means the sum of all biological reactions in the body, which proceeds irrespective.
